the Smackdown Lowdown 3/22

It’s Friday night and there was a lot on the line with the build up to WrestleMania hitting high speeds and this highly anticipated episode sure lived up to its hype.

In a whirlwind of twists and turns, WWE SmackDown witnessed a momentous clash between legacy and betrayal as Rey Mysterio faced off against Santos Escobar.
The stage was set, tensions were high, and the air was thick with anticipation as SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis barred all members of LWO and Legado del Fantasma from ringside, ensuring a fair showdown between two fierce competitors. But what followed was beyond anyone’s wildest expectations.
As Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar locked horns in a battle fueled by personal vendettas, the match reached its apex. Every move, every hold, carried the weight of their storied rivalry.
Then, just when it seemed Rey Mysterio was gaining the upper hand, fate intervened in the most shocking manner possible. A figure clad in Rey’s own mask emerged from the shadows, launching a vicious assault on the legendary luchador. Fans gasped in disbelief as the attacker revealed himself to be none other than Rey’s own son, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio.

With Dominik’s interference paving the way for Escobar’s victory, the landscape of SmackDown shifted dramatically. Questions swirled about the motivations behind Dominik’s actions and the future of the Mysterio family dynamic. Had ambition clouded Dominik’s judgment, or were there deeper, more sinister forces at play?

Controversy Reigns as Austin Theory’s Underhanded Tactics Propel his Team Towards WrestleMania Glory.
In the heart of a high-stakes tournament qualifier, the WWE Universe witnessed a moment of controversy that could potentially alter the landscape of WrestleMania’s tag team scene. As the battle raged on, Austin Theory, accompanied by Grayson Waller, resorted to underhanded tactics that went unnoticed by the official, securing a pivotal victory over The O.C.
However, amidst the celebration and jubilation, controversy loomed large. Questions swirled about the integrity of Theory’s victory and whether justice had truly been served. Would The O.C. contest the decision? And what repercussions would this controversial win have on the landscape of WrestleMania’s tag team division?

In a stunning turn of events, chaos erupted backstage prior to a highly anticipated match between Naomi and Bayley. Before the bell even rang, IYO SKY launched a ruthless attack on Bayley, throwing the No. 1 Contender’s status into disarray.
With Bayley incapacitated, Naomi stepped into the ring alone, facing not only her opponent but also the looming threat of interference from the cunning faction, Damage CTRL. Despite Naomi’s resilience and determination, the odds were stacked against her as she squared off against the WWE Women’s Champion.
However, the controversy didn’t end there. Following the match, the chaos spilled out of the ring as Bianca Belair, determined to thwart Damage CTRL’s post-match assault, entered the fray. Yet, despite Belair’s valiant efforts, the numbers game proved too much to overcome, leaving both her and Naomi laid out in the aftermath of the brutal attack.
The question is how will the Bayley/Naomi and Bianca Belair group overcome the odds of Damage CTRL? it seems Damage CTRL are here to run Smackdown

Later on we saw a cutaway for an interview with AJ styles on his road to WrestleMania and the buildup to his match with LA Knight only to be interrupted by what sounded like a car alarm, as AJ went to take a look, LA Knight stood there honking the horn to call out AJ and from there chaos erupted at the front of the house as both men went at each other in a full scrap, eventually the local PD turned up and separated the two but LA Knight said this wont be the last time AJ sees him before there big match.

In a heart-stopping finale to the second Tag Team Tournament qualifier, Montez Ford pulled off a stunning maneuver, seizing victory for himself and Angelo Dawkins in the face of the formidable Authors of Pain. With precision timing, Ford executed an inside cradle out of nowhere, catching their opponents off guard and clinching a hard-fought win. This triumph propels Ford and Dawkins one step closer to their WrestleMania dreams, as they now prepare to square off against A-Town Down Under for a chance to secure a coveted spot in the Six-Pack Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title at The Showcase of the Immortals.

The end of the show did not disappoint as tensions soared highly with the anticipated face-off between WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and his WrestleMania No. 1 Contender Cody Rhodes.

It all seemed fair as both men exchanged words 1 on 1 but that soon changed and escalated into a dramatic six-person standoff. As Roman left the ring he threw a snap of the fingers just like Thanos did in the Avengers Movies and this snap was the call for Jimmy Uso and Solo to enter and make sure the numbers were on Romans side but little did he know he was about to be played at his own game as Cody threw a smirk and this drew in World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins, alongside Jey Uso. The ring crackled with anticipation as these formidable competitors locked eyes, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown. As WrestleMania looms ever closer, the WWE Universe braces for the explosive collision between these titans of the ring, each vying for supremacy on the grandest stage of them all.
What happens Monday Night? Will Roman show up or will Cody be all alone in that Ring?
