Pocono, PA: Old dog has new tricks and for Denny Hamlin he now has added a 3-peat to his resume. Nabbing his 64th career win and 8th at Pocono just adds to his Hall of Fame career.
Retirement looms ahead for Hamlin who has until 2027 when his contract runs out. Hamlin himself has said that he won’t impose himself on those decisions. He wants to go out on top and win more races before he calls it quits and knows at any moment his age could cause a performance drop. However, for now all Hamlin does is win and win a lot.
Tight Points Lead
Tyler Reddick is definitely sweating more so than he has ever been during this season. Despite finishing 2nd Reddick didnt gain many stage points and with Hamlin winning again he essentially got max points. The lead is now down to 19 points.
Now the next two weeks do appear to be an obstacle in Hamlin’s way as both are road and street courses (San Diego and Sonoma). Reddick is a better road course driver than Hamlin as those tracks are his weakness. But Hamlin is definitely putting that pressure on.
Whats Ahead
The Cup Series turns to a new venue and destination. The San Diego street course on a air naval base (yes that isn’t fake) is up next. You are not gonna wanna miss this one.
