Talladega, Ala: The beauty of superspeedway racing means that the guy running in 30th to start can be leading at the end. The best thing you can do is put yourself in position for anything to happen. Carson Hocevar was the driver that ended up taking the checkered flag.
Hocevar, seeking his first career win, was in the mix for a good portion after a 28 car pile up took out numerous contenders like Ryan Blaney, Bubba Wallace and Joey Logano. Spire Motorsports extended Hocevar to a 5 year deal with belief he would take their team to new heights.
Despite a flurry in the summer of 2025 the team was constantly misexecuting and misfortune kept the team out of victory lane. Spire actually has 1 victory in the Cup Series with Justin Haley after the summer Daytona race where the event was called due to rain early.
Battling Chris Buescher it seemed Hocevar was in prime position. With the lack of generating runs in the Next Gen era at Superspeedways (barring Atlanta) you need to find friends whenever possible. Alex Bowman, a fellow chevy teammate, was behind Hocevar and Buescher had Ricky Stenhouse behind him. With Chevies surrounding Buescher he was in a numbers game that he just wasnt gonna win.
In the end its Carson Hocevar becoming the 2nd driver in as many weeks to nab his 1st career win. Ty Gibbs did so at Bristol.
Whats Ahead
The Cup Series circuit turns to the Lonestar state at Texas Motor Speedway. The race itself could be set to bring chaos that fans have either loathed or liked with no in-between.
