For the first time in long time, the Dallas Cowboys need to hit the nail on the head, in the 2026 NFL draft on the Defensive side of the ball, or it will be another season of dissapointment on the defensive side of the ball.
Here are three scenarios, the Cowboys could go, in the firs round.
Trading up with the Cleveland Browns. The Cowboys and Jerry Jones, and the coaching staff know the Cowboys need a stud defender in this draft and LB Sonny Styles out of Ohio State, is the first one that comes to mind. With two first round picks, Jerry jones can work his majic somehow. That been said if the teams above them minus the Raiders, pick Styles ahead of them, it could all mean nothing.
2.) Could it be the Cowboys, pick all defensive players in the draft. It could happen. The Cowboys will go with their famous best player available idea, but not 100 percent. If the Cowboys trade up in the first round, look for them to take a linebacker or edge rusher. If the Cowboys stay at pick number 12 a Corner back and Edge is the likely scenario. And for some strange reason, if Anthony Hill Jr. is at number 20 the Cowboys should grab him. As a long time Longhorns fan i would be elated and he is NFL ready.
3.) Cowboys will need a new offensive tackle :
On the last day of the draft, the Cowboys will need a offensive tackle. Tyler Guyton and Terrance Steele are the starters for now for 2026, but Steele was a major dissapointment last year, after signing a huge contract.
