The Cincinnati Reds have done a pretty good job in recent years keeping a strong farm system to help off set their inability to spend in free agency and compete with the large market teams in that aspect. Recent top prospects have played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s future and are budding into young stars. Players like Hunter Greene, Matt McLain, Elly De La Cruz and Andrew Abbott are all home grown talent that rose through the Reds farm system and are key contributors to the big league club. Other players like Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Spencer Steer and Noelvi Marte were key acquisitions in trades that the team insisted on acquiring in trades during their recent rebuild. Here are my top 10 prospects that will be that next crop of players to be a large part of the team’s future with an in depth look into my top 5.
Number 1: Chase Burns

Chase Burns was the Reds’ first pick in the most recent draft in 2024, picked 2nd overall. Burns features an electric fastball that has reached 102 and averages 98mph. He has an above average curveball, a slider and a changeup. He has command of most of his pitches, though his changeup does need more refinement and consistency. He’s an aggressive pitcher that isn’t afraid to challenge hitters and has potential to be a top of the rotation starter. ETA: 2025
Number 2: Rhett Lowder

Rhett Lowder got his first taste of the big leagues late in 2024 and was great. Lowder features a fastball that averages in the low 90’s that can top out around 97, with a 2 seamer that has a good amount of sink to it. His changeup is his best pitch, it has a ton of fade to either side of the plate. His slider has been his second most common pitch so far as a pro. In 6 starts with the Reds in 2024, Lowder went 2-2 with a 1.17 ERA. Walks were a bit of an issue but he made up for it with getting a ton of ground ball outs. Lowder will most likely pitch in MLB in 2025 but he could begin the season in Louisville. ETA: 2025
Number 3: Cam Collier

Cam Collier surprisingly fell to the Reds at number 18 in the 2022 draft. At 17 years old, he was one of the youngest players in his draft class. Cam struggled in Low A Daytona in 2023 but really started to put it together later in the season. Again, he was one of the youngest players in the Florida State League. Cam really took a big step forward in 2024. While his batting average didn’t really impress overall, he started the season out hot, hitting 7 home runs in April with a .298 batting average. He cooled down from May through July but really turned it back on in August, hitting 6 home runs, 22 RBI’s walked more times than he struck out (25-21) and sluggish .671. Cam has a smooth, left handed swing that has great bat to ball skills. He has great gap power to all fields. He is athletic enough and has a strong enough arm to play 3rd base, but could see a move to a corner outfield spot or first base should the Reds need to move him. ETA: 2026
Number 4: Chase Petty

Chase Petty has been in the Reds organization since 2022 and is still just 21 years old. Petty put together a really good 2024 that saw a promotion to AAA. He would go 10-5 on a pretty poor AA Chattanooga team with a 4.39 ERA. He really improved as a ground ball pitcher with his 2 seam fast ball. Petty would pitch 7 innings in 4 of his last 5 starts in Chattanooga before being called up to Louisville. He features a 4 seam fastball that can reach triple digits, a 2 seam fastball that has good sink and ride, a slider that compliments his fastball well and a changeup what maxes out at 90. His changeup could use some refinement but his fastball slider combo is above average. Chase is slated to start the season in AAA Louisville but there is a really good chance he could see a promotion the Major Leagues at some point this season. ETA:2025
Number 5: Sal Stewart

The Reds’ second pick in 2022 was Sal Stewart. Cincinnati received a comp pick to select Stewart after losing Nick Castellanos in free agency to the Phillies. Sal has an incredible eye for the strike zone, he walks as much as he strikes out, has great line drive gap power to all fields and has pretty even splits vs left and right handed pitching. If he could tap into his power potential, Sal Stewart could be a real threat towards to top of the lineup. He’s athletic, but doesn’t have great speed. He split time playing 2nd base and 3rd base for Dayton in 2024 but the Reds could look for more position flexibility out of Stewart. ETA: 2026
Number 6: Edwin Arroyo — ETA: 2026
Number 7: Alfredo Duno — ETA: 2027
Number 8: Tyson Lewis: — ETA 2028
Number 9: Ricardo Cabrera — ETA 2027
Number 10: Hector Rodriguez — ETA 2026
