Bronx, NY—Juan Soto, right fielder and Yankees slugger left Thursday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins due to discomfort in his left forearm.
Aaron Boone mentioned that Soto had been experiencing discomfort for the past week. Due to some soreness during the rain delay, the team decided to prioritize caution and take him out of the game.
Soto was removed at the beginning of the sixth inning after a 56-minute rain delay.
In Soto’s absence, Aaron Judge shifted from left field to right field, and Alex Verdugo came off the bench to cover left field.
The three-time All-Star is batting .318 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs on the season. However, tonight Soto went 0-for-1 with two walks.
He has started all 64 games this season since joining New York from the San Diego Padres in a major trade last December. Soto will undergo additional testing Friday, according to Boone
