According to multiple sources, including NFL Network Insider Ian Rapaport, the Cleveland Browns and star running back Nick Chubb have come to terms on a reworked contract, that will keep in with the team.
Chubb is a fan favorite in Cleveland, and is widely considered one of, if not the best running back in the league.
Chubb was scheduled to have a $15.825 million dollar cap hit, with a base salary of $11.75 million dollars, all the way down to $6.275 million dollars.
That saves the Browns a massive $9.5 million dollars.
He can still earn all of that original money back, as it has been turned into “incentives”.
Chubb is coming off a horrific season ending knee injury suffered in Week 2 last season, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In his six seasons with the Cleveland Browns, he has rushed for 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns, with a career 5.3 yards per carry average.
He’s caught 123 passes for 1,011 yards with 4 touchdowns.
The Browns and fans are hoping that Chubb can return to form next season, as the Cleveland running game was not the same without him.
