This weekend is the start the NHL All-Star game and festivities. Starting on Friday is the Skills competition, which will have up to $1 Million in prizes!
Let’s see if I can predict the winner of each event. I will list every participant, and the winner prediction will be in bold.
Fastenal NHL fastest skater:
– Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
– William Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs
– Quinn Hughes, Vancouver Canucks
– Cale Makar, Colorado Avalanche
– Mathew Barzal, New York Islanders
McDavid is one of the best players in the NHL, and he has been since he entered the league. His power skating, and acceleration is top notch, and to watch him skate up and down the ice is amazing. McDavid wins fastest skater, with Quinn Hughes in a close second place.

Tim Hortons NHL One Timers:
– Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
– Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche
– Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers
– Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning
– J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks
– Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
– Mathew Barzal, New York Islanders
– David Pastrnak, Boston Bruins
Nathan MacKinnon, started in this league pretty much in the shadow of his good buddy, Sidney Crosby, both being Nova Scotia natives. MacKinnon has become one of the best players in the league. His one timer accuracy is impeccable. I say he runs away with this event.

Scotiabank NHL Passing Challenge:
– Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche
– William Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs
– Cale Makar, Colorado Avalanche
– Mathew Barzal, New York Islanders
– J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks
– Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning
– Quinn Hughes, Vancouver Canucks
– Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
– Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
– Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
– Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers
It is hard to go against Cale Makar in passing, this kid is the face of the NHL as a defensemen. His passing ability is something every player wishes they had.

Rogers NHL Hardest Shot:
– Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
– Cale Makar, Colorado Avalanche
– David Pastrnak, Boston Bruins
– J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks
– Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
As much as it kills me to pick a Bruin to win an event, I can’t ignore the fact that Pasta has an absolute missile of a shot. I think he is going to get 2 shots 100+ MPH.

Upper Deck NHL Stick Handling:
– Quinn Hughes, Vancouver Canucks
– Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
– Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
– Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning
– Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers
– Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche
– David Pastrnak, Boston Bruins
– Mathew Barzal, New York Islanders
– William Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs
Quinn Hughes in my opinion has the softest hands in the league, and they are QUICK. I think after this event they are going to rename the event to the Quinn Hughes stick handling event.

Cheetos NHL Accuracy Shooting:
– Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning
– Cale Makar, Colorado Avalanche
– Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
– Quinn Hughes, Vancouver Canucks
– J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks
– David Pastrnak, Boston Bruins
– Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche
– William Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs
– Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers
– Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
Have you guys every seen Auston Matthews shoot the puck? Pin point Accuracy every time he shoots the puck, he is the tenders worst nightmare when he is skating down the ice with the puck.

Honda / Hyundai NHL One-on-One:
The way that the One-on-One works is:
The top eight point-earners from events 1-6 will participate and choose the goaltender they shoot against. The tender with the most saves will win $100,000. The List of goaltenders are:
– Jeremy Swayman, Boston Bruins
– Alexander Georgiev, Colorado Avalanche
– Jake Oettinger, Dallas Stars
– Sergei Bobrovsky, Florida Panthers
– Cam Talbot, Los Angeles Kings
– Igor Shesterkin, New York Rangers
– Thatcher Demko, Vancouver Canucks
– Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets
Bobs is the best net minder in the league right now in my opinion, and he is going to show that during the One-on-One challenge. I’ll make an evener bolder prediction, he is going to post a shutout and make every save in the event.
