As the Texas Rangers move forward into the off-season, they are still waiting on their new TV Deal.

OffSeason Moves

The Rangers have made a few signings so far this off-season:

Kirby Yates (One year Deal)

Tyler Mahle (Two-year Deal), however, will miss the first part of season recovering from Tommy John Surgery.

Now the Rangers have yet to lose anyone crucial, in my opinion, in free agency as guys like Aroldis Chapman signed a one-year deal worth 10.5 million per Jim Bowden. Texas also lost their DH/Backup Catcher Mitch Garver who heads to a divisional rival in the Seattle Mariners, on a two-year deal worth $24 million that he signed on Christmas day.

They also lost fan favorite Martin Perez, and dugout hype man Austin Hedges. Not a lot of impact guys that the team has lost but they are going to have to look during free agency or in their minor league system for their replacements.

The big question entering the off-season that still looms is, what will the Rangers do with Jordan Montgomery? The Southpaw is still a current free agent, and reports are swirling saying he’s expected to return to the Rangers’ long term, however, there is worry across the fanbase. Fans are worried that Montgomery is going to grow impatient of the new TV deal and sign elsewhere.

If this is happening,the Rangers would lose their best postseason arm from last year, making it difficult for a shortened Starting Rotation with Jacob DeGrom, Max Scherzer, and Tyler Mahle, all missing time up untill at least the mid-way point of the 2024 season.

The Rangers Rotation currently sits with Nathan Eovaldi at the top, with guys like Jon Gray, Dane Dunning, and Andrew Heaney.

The Rangers could look into their farm system for guys like their former first round pick Cole Winn, Owen White, who debuted last year, and even then second overall pick from the 2021 Draft, Jack Leiter.

Whatever happens for the Texas Rangers this off-season will answers plenty of questions, especially whether or not this team is capable of repeating another World Series Championship.
