I remember a time, and yes, I’m old so deal with me rambling about the good ole days, but baseball in Cleveland use to have sellouts and not just on Opening Day.
Cleveland had a consecutive sellout streak of 455 games in the golden years of the 1990’s, and what the team is building now could see something similar in Cleveland once again.
The Guardians biggest win since the 2016 ALCS was resigning José Ramírez to a team-friendly contract last year, and with the recent news of Andrés Giménez re-upping long-term, this team has stars who could potentially do what those 1990’s Indians teams couldn’t….win the whole damn thing.
With a solid rotation consisting of a Cy Young award winner in Shane Bieber, and a MVP candidate, José Ramírez, the fans should attend more ballgames.
Progressive Field is a gem on the corner of Carnegie and Ontario, and has been since its debut in 1994. More renovations are also planned, and the team is even offering standing room only passes that are great, especially if one wants to drink with their pals at the trendy bars inside the stadium.
The average attendance in Cleveland last year was 17,050, up from the 14,472 in 2021, If you look at the average from 2013-2022 the number is a little better at 19,827 but the Guardians should be averaging over 20,000 at least, in my opinion.
The Guardians are full of young stars, and poised to recreate the magic that those 90’s clubs produced, I just personally hope the fans show up to witness it.
