3 PLAYERS TO CONSIDER DROPPING, 3 PLAYERS TO ADD

This article is going to be based on a standard format 5×5, RUNS, HR, RBI, SB & AVG. in a redraft league. Strategies are definitely MUCH DIFFERENT for a keeper/dynasty league.

Players I’m looking at to drop here are Cardinals Jordan Walker, Tigers, Colt Keith and Mariners Mitch Haniger.

Jordan Walker off to a extremely slow start Walker is only 9 for 58 with 4 runs scored, 4 RBI, zero HRs and only hitting .155. Walker was 3/21 over the last 2 week stretch dropping down to .143, earning, not sure earning is the right word, Walker has been demoted back to AAA Memphis. Obviously a waiver add is actually a MUST here not a choice.

Another player I am dropping personally and suggest dropping is Mitch Haniger from Seattle, Haniger started out fine on the season he was hitting .256 with 3 HR, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. Haniger however is only 2 for 17 over the past week hitting a DREADFUL .118 with only 1 RBI.

This next player deserving a demotion in my opinion, is Tigers 2B/3B Colt Keith he definitely needs more time to refine his skills in the minors. Keith on the season is hitting .156, with zero HRs, 5 RBI, 4 runs scored and 1 stolen base. Keith has been a ghost over the last week going 1/18 hitting .056.

Its time to fill those spots with some production.

Brenton Doyle of the Rockies is a guy I am looking to add. Doyle on the season thus far is hitting .310 with 13 runs scored, 3 HR 7 RBI and 2 stolen bases. The Rockies outfielder over the last week is 6/17 with a .353 AVG. Lets face it a Rockies hitter at home and his numbers trending in the right direction is a huge leap ahead of any of the 3 players you should be dropping.

Outfielder Wilyer Abreu of the Boston Red Sox is definitely trending in the right direction. Abreu is hitting .322 with 11 runs scored 2 HR, 9 RBI and 4 SB. Abreu’s numbers over the last 7 days are amazing, he is hitting .520 with 5 runs scored 2 HR and 7 RBI. Wilyer Abreu is currently batting cleanup, grab him.

Once a top prospect in baseball, having struggled to get it going a few times he was up with the big club is Jo Adell outfielder of the Angels. Adell looks to have it all going for him now and maybe finally. Adell is hitting .316 with 8 runs scored, 2 HRs, 6 RBI, 5 stolen bases. Over the past week Adell is hitting .500 with 2 runs scored, 1 HR, 3 RBI and a stolen base. Lets face it the Angles need a spark in their lineup, with the exception of Mike Trout who found the fountain of youth is his old self again and Taylor Ward, the Angels aren’t that great.

Add these 3 hitters to your team and your stats should climb.

Honorable mentions, Mets – JD Martinez is finally ready to come back, he is batting 5th behind Pete Alonso, Red Sox catcher Connor Wong, he’s hitting .370. Johan Rojas hitting .421 over the last week. If you have a bench spot and really want to be patient PICK UP Blue Jays 2B/3B/SS Orelvis Martinez, Martinez is just crusin’ in the minors The 22 year old slugger is batting .325 (27-for-83) has 7 HRs with a 1.060 OPS through 21 games so far.
