The first time I ever saw Miles play was on a video with Grant Horvat. He was the most developed and best 15 year old golfer I had ever seen. You could tell by how smooth and flowing his swing was that he just had the it factor. His sweet swinging lefty follow through made him the youngest person to ever qualify for a Korn Ferry Tour event.
He shot a -14 in all and he seemed to not only have all the ball striking skills but a very good mental game. He always seemed to combat a birdie with a bogey and make the clutch putts. The best players on tour and in history know that you must not meltdown when your round starts to go downhill. In Mile’s second round he eagled 2 holes on the front nine. Shooting a solid 32. On the back he birdied 2 and bogeyed one but if you saw his shots during this tournament you would know that he has a future in golf.
In his 4th round he birdied 5 out of 10 of the first holes and bogeyed one. If it is possible for him to be this talented at 15 years old, I speak for the golf community when I say, I cannot wait to see him a few years down the road. Most of the star golfers we see today were talented players at the age of Miles but none as good as him. Miles will be on the PGA Tour in the future and he will be dominant in my opinion. Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, and Tiger Woods are some of the well known guys who started playing pro golf young and thrived when they made it to the highest level.
In my opinion it is good, but bad to be involved in pro golf at this young of an age. Every kid deserves to have a normal childhood, carefree while having fun with their friends. If the kid truly does want to be pro and he wants to be this involved at such a young age then that is good and will prepare him for future PGA majors and big time events. In many cases like Miles though he is so involved in these events because of a controlling parent or parents. I hope Miles has all the future success in the golf world because he is truly a talented and special young man.
