“Get ’em while they’re hot” its not just an expression to get something out of the oven, its used or I should say I use it to grab fantasy baseball players while they are on a hot streak. I’m gonna take a look at some hitters I think you should grab if you’ve been hit with the injury bug, which I know you have been, we all have. All these players are owned less that 50% in Yahoo.
Jesse Winker, he’s never been the pillar of good health but he is off to a red hot start hitting .373/.500/.608 with 2 HR & 5 RBI, scoring 11 runs and even has 2 stolen bases in 64 plate appearances. Winker is only owned in 19% of Yahoo leagues. If you are hurting for outfield help I’d scoop him up.
Speaking of red hot, Amed Rosario has been streaky over his career, but Rosario is 12 for 26 over the last 7 days hitting .462 two homers and 7 RBIs and a 1.270OPS. Rosario’s multiple positions definitely help fill the void left in your lineup due to an injury, Rosario is only 26% owned in Yahoo leagues. He’s a must have even if it is just temporarily.
Ryan O’Hearn is on a stacked Orioles team and is only 41% owned in Yahoo leagues, O’Hearn has hit a HR in 3 straight games while going 6 for 13 over that period. Right now he’s slashing .333/.400/.689 with 4 HR, 11 runs scored, and 6 RBI through his first 14 games he also has dual eligibility being 1B/OF. Grab him while you can.
Connor Wong, Boston’s catcher is a guy to own right now, only owned 4%. Wong is hitting .342 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. Wong is slugging .676 with a 1.048 OPS in 35 plate appearances. Lets face it catchers still get banged up not as much as the old days but they do, if you have a catcher out injured or even your utility guy hurt grab Wong, he could help while he’s producing.
The Guardians Gabriel Arias over the last week in limited time (9 for 23) has hit .391 with a homerun and 4 RBI with one stolen base with a 1.156 OPS. Will Benson not playing a lot and Brayan Rocchio not exactly doing what the Guardians thought he would (yet) Arias is hitter to grab while he’s raking.
Daulton Varsho, Varsho definitely had a down year in 2023. Looking to bounce back this season he has started off on the right track that is for sure. Varsho has 4 HR with 8 RBI and a stolen base in just 17 at bats. Varsho is hitting .353 and has a 1.539 OPS. Varsho definitely will not keep up this pace but he is a nice player to see sitting available with only 44% ownership on Yahoo.
Honorable mentions: Jake Fraley 41% owned .432/.462/.622 with 12 runs, 4RBI and 4 stolen bases in 39 plate appearances. Mitch Haniger 38% owned .286/.375/.500 with three homers, 11 RBI and nine runs through 64 plate appearances. Cavan Biggio only 17% owned .292/370/417.
