Arlington, Texas – September 28, 2025

In a Sunday Night Football game that ended in a wild 40-40 overtime tie, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott delivered a electrifying performance against the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium. Facing a championship-caliber Packers squad and the emotional return of former teammate Micah Parsons, Prescott put on a offensive clinic going 24 of 31, with 319 yards, three touchdowns, earning a near perfect 124.9 passer rating, and also added a rushing score. His performance still wasn’t enough for the Cowboys’ defense once again.

From the opening drive, Prescott operated under pressure, with tackle Tyler Booker sidelined with an injury, Center Cooper Bebee out with a injury, and star receiver CeeDee Lamb out with a injury, Dallas was shorthanded, but Prescott didn’t blink. After the Packers jumped to a 13-0 lead behind Jordan Love’s two touchdown passes to Romeo Doubs, Prescott kept his cool, orchestrating a 95-yard drive in the second quarter capped by his own rushing touchdown. It was a glimpse of the dominance that would define his night, as he navigated a game that saw seven lead changes and 80 combined points, the second-highest scoring tie in NFL history.

The game showcased Prescott’s offensive arsenal. He found George Pickens (stepping up in the absence of CeeDee Lamb) for two touchdowns and added one to tight end Jake Ferguson. By game’s end, Prescott’s 319 passing yards and 24 completions on 31 attempts (77.4% completion rate) underscored his command, while his scramble for a score added a throwback dual-threat dimension from his younger days.

In overtime Dallas marched to the Packers’ 25-yard line, with Prescott hitting Jalen Tolbert for a 34-yard gain to set up a potential game-winner. But on third-and-8, Parsons—now a Packer after a blockbuster offseason trade—blitzed and tackled Prescott from behind as he attempted to break free for the end zone. Dallas settled for a 22-yard Brandon Aubrey field goal to lead 40-37. Green Bay’s Brandon McManus answered with a 34-yarder to tie it as time expired, leaving Prescott’s heroics without the thrill of victory.

That one stings,” Prescott said postgame. “You put everything out there, and it’s not a win or a loss—just empty.”

Statistically, Prescott was nearly flawless. His 124.9 passer rating was his highest of the young season. Pickens (8 catches, 134 yards, two TDs) and Ferguson (7 catches, 40 yards, one TD) were his primary weapons, while running back Javonte Williams’ 85 yards and a score eased the burden. Facing a Packers defense that entered with a top-10 pass rush, Prescott was sacked only once and committed no turnovers, a testament to his poise amid a shootout that saw 925 combined offensive yards.

The emotional weight of facing Parsons, who spent three seasons as Dallas’ defensive cornerstone, added a layer of intensity. “You know what he’s capable of,” Prescott said of his former teammate, “He’s a game-wrecker”. Cowboys first-year coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Prescott’s leadership, noting, “Dak was phenomenal, kept us in it despite everything we’re missing.” Owner Jerry Jones called Prescott “indispensable” and said the tie was “sickening for these players who left it all out there.”

The tie leaves Dallas at 1-2-1. The Cowboys will now prepare for a Week 5 match-up with the New York Jets.
