#6. Will Hynes an 18 year old pitcher from Toronto selected 70th by Cleveland. Hynes is one Canada’s top pitching prospects in the class of 2025 he’s been a consistent member of the Canadian Junior National Team in recent years. Hynes throws a mid 90s fastball, sweeping slider and a changeup to round out his repertoire. The velocity will comes as he matures some more. A Wake forest commit, Wake Forest a NCAA pitching factory, Hynes becomes the most recent Canadian to land with the Guardians, who have a handful of Canadians in their system already.

#7. This next one I’m excited about and I don’t even like the Blue Jays, Micah Bucknam gets selected 112th by the Toronto Blue Jays, I’m excited cause he’s good; plus anybody who loves the game, likes a hometown kid being picked by their home team, its a feel good story.
Bucknam born in New Zealand but raised in Canada, this is the second time that Bucknam has had his name called in the MLB Draft by the Blue Jays, Toronto picked him in the 16th round in 2021. After deciding to attend LSU rather than turn pro the 6’2″ right hander pitched out of the LSU’s pen for his first two college seasons before transferring to Dallas Baptist University in 2025. Excelling in the starters role sitting down 80 batters over 62.1IP and throwing 2 complete games, Bucknam has a 4 pitch mix, fastball, curveball, slider and changeup.

#8. Toronto gets another Canadian at 3B from British Columbia Tim Piasentin with the 143rd pick. The power is there evaluators project him for a 60-65 grade power tool in the future if it clicks. His best tool is his power having already produced exit velocities north of 110MPH. In the field he has a plus arm but struggles with range, they are mixed on his chances of sticking at the hot corner, as some see a move to 1st base inevitable as he continues to fill out his already physical frame.

#9. Riley Nelson another Guardians pick, Nelson gets selected at 162nd, 21 year old first baseman from Toronto. Riley Nelson from one of my favorite University baseball programs Vanderbilt University, Nelson has a very good bat to ball skills, a good contact hitter for a 1B with the ability to drive the baseball. His competitiveness at the plate is undeniable. He can play both corner infield positions and has a very good knowledge of the game. Riley had an impressive slash line of .344/.450/.526, with 8HR and 7 stolen bases being caught trying twice.

#10. The player I mentioned twice in the previous articles, my boy Yankees’ Core Jackson. Jackson coming out of the University of Utah is 21 years old stands in at 6’2″ weighing 192lbs, a lefty bat with pull power which is perfect for Yankee Stadium. This season, Jackson led Utah in batting average .364, slugging percentage .641, on-base percentage .445, runs scored with 61, hits 75, RBIs 44, doubles 19, home runs 12, total bases 132 and 20 stolen bases., a compact hitter with great contact, making him a slugging machine. Jackson was a runner-up for the Brooks Wallace Award, which goes to the nation’s best college shortstop. Core Jackson good on the defensive side as well he had 117 assists and was involved in 25 double plays.

STAY TUNED FOR PART THREE, PLAYERS 11-15.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
