2024 1st round pick Chase Burns made his Major League Debut on Tuesday and he showed what the hype is all about! Burns struck out the first 5 batters he saw and first 6 overall. He’s the only pitcher in the last 50 years to strike out the first 5 batters he’s faced. Burns struck out Aaron Judge on 4 pitches.

Burns would eventually look human. Ben Rice would ambush him for a home run in the 4th and TJ Friedl would make a boneheaded diving attempt for a ball that would lead to 2 more runs. Overall, Chase Burns would pitch 5 innings, allow 6 hits, 3 earned runs and strike out 8. Burns’ fastball topped out at 101 and showed great command and ability to work back into counts. There were a few instances where he was missing high or up and away and getting behind in the count, but he showed great poise getting back in the at bat. He did not walk a batter tonight. The future couldn’t be brighter for this kid.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
