SUNRISE, FL – Last night Aleksander Barkov, the captain of the Florida Panthers, was the first European in NHL history to captain his team to back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals victories. The Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers for the second straight year (4-2). The Panthers were led by Center Sam Reinhart, who netted 4 goals in the Cup clinching game, and Matthew Tkachuk netted one goal. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 28 saves on 29 shots. Sam Bennett, Conn Symthe winner, led all players in scoring in the playoffs with 15 goals.

The Florida Panthers, in my opinion, are the most dominate and overall team that the NHL has seen in decades. They are all on the same page at all times while on the ice, from line one all the way down to the third string goalie. What the front office of the Florida Panthers did to put this team together after the 4 nations break is remarkable. The players that came in towards the end of the season, all played a part in the championship. Two players that I can name right now, Brad Marchand, came over from the Boston Bruins after suffering an injury in Pittsburgh, which would end up being the last game Marchand would play for the Bruins, and after last night, I think the only people who care about that is the Bruins fans LOL. Marchand scored 6 times for the Panthers in the Finals series alone, two of them being GWG.

Another stand out addition for the Panthers, is the infamous, Seth Jones. Jones started the season with the bottom feeder Chicago Blackhawks. Everyone in Chicago thought that when Seth Jones was dealt to Florida, they won the deal. NO, the Balckhawks are just garbage. The boys from Spittin’ Chiclets said it the best, you cannot judge a great defenseman on a terrible team. I agree, 100%.

The Panthers have been the underdog in every series they played in the playoffs this season, it did not matter. The Panthers came out and destroyed every opponent they faced. The Panthers ended the playoffs with a +59 goal differential.

One thing I wish I could be a part of right now, is the party at Elbo Room in Fort Lauderdale. What a party that has to be right now.
