Game Changer Wrestling held their No Compadre event on March 29th from Thalia Hall in Chicago, Illinois. The show aired on Triller TV.

Dante Leon vs. Jack Cartwheel

This is an unacknowledged match between a WWEID talent and a WWEID School trained wrestler. Either way, both individuals are known for their innovative maneuvers and their high-flying offense. Leon worked over Cartwheel’s back in between thoughts of new songs to perform at the coffee shop. Despite the injured midsection, Cartwheel prevailed with a twisting whirligig from the tope rope.

Dark Sheik vs. Brooke Havok

What started as a technical showcase quickly devolved into another type of Roman spectacle…and this isn’t even EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch! Havok did show why she is known as one of the best up-and-comers on the indie scene today…but she was no match for the veteran wiles and John Cena impersonations of the Dark Sheik.

Isaiah Broner vs. Sam Holloway

For the record, I was on the Sam Holloway bandwagon before the WWEID program nabbed him. This was a big, meaty men-slapping-meat exhibition, with Broner showing surprising strength with several carries on the larger Holloway and Holloway’s speed, taking to the air a time or two to keep his opponent off guard. Tonight, it was Broner who came out on top, dropping the WWEID prospect with a big (pun intended) lariat.

GCW Tag Team Championship: Gahbage Daddies (c) vs. Violence is Forever vs. Hot Commodity vs. Bang & Matthews

Violence is Forever attacked the champs during their entrance, piledriving Price and taking out Cole Radrick’s leg. Meanwhile, in the ring Band & Matthews and Hot Commodity went back and forth. The match was as chaotic as you can expect with four-way rules in place. Alec Price eventually recovered to make a hot comeback, even looking like he would save the titles for him and Radrick. Unfortunately, after Price hit a big DDT, the pin was stolen by Kevin Ku, giving Violence is Forever the championships.

Zayda Steel vs. Dan the Dan

Aw, yeah! Dan’s here! If you are not familiar with Dan’s work, he is disappointed in you, but otherwise you are in for a treat. Dan completes the open set of maneuvers without spilling his coffee, exasperating the WWE ID prospect. Unfortunately the shizz hits the fan when Zayda spills some of the coffee on Dan. Zayda gets taken to the woodshed for her coffee-based transgression, being whipped by Dan’s belt. However, it was not enough, as Zayda was victorious with the tomakaze.

Gingo Loco vs. Jimmy Lloyd

No more Broski Jimmy, but that does not necessarily mean he’s getting cheered against the Base God. A surprising amount of hip swiveling in between some chain wrestling. It does not take long for things to go outside the ring and get hardcore. Loco adapts quickly…though, it’s not like he is not a GCW regular or anything. Gringo put Jimmy through a door with a sunset bomb before ending the match with a twisting destroyer for the victory!

Matthew Justice vs. Dr. Redacted vs. John Wayne Murdoch vs. Malcom Monroe III

It’s our first deathmatch-type match of the evening. Not fully there…but Murdoch and Redacted can take it to the extreme…though Justice was the one who started slinging chairs. Justice suplexed a door on his opponents before we go to split screen action to contain it all. Weapons galore in this bloody affair. It was Dr. Redacted standing tall when the dust settled.

GCW Championship: Effy (c) vs. Microman

Micromania is running wild and despite being popular, EFFY is getting boos because he has the audacity to try and defeat Microman. A surprisingly even affair…mostly due to Microman resisting EFFY’s charms. They fought up and down the stage, with Microman hitting a big crossbody off the stage. Ironically enough, it was the crossbody that was Microman’s undoing, as EFFY rolled through a crossbody through a door to retain the championship.

After the match, Dark Sheik comes out to the ring to put over her and EFFY’s history. Sheik also puts over being THE LGBTQ+ star prior to EFFY taking the mantle and running with it. Sheik wants to remind everyone who she is and lays down the challenge for the GCW Championship at EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch 10! It’s official!

GCW Ultraviolent Championship: Matt Tremont (c) vs. Otis Cogar

Deathmatch in the purest form. Two big dudes doing whatever they can to make each other bleed. We got gusset plates (which I hate). We’re battling with a bundle of light tubes vs. a tack-covered bat. Cogar produced a blade, which I assume is to shave Tremont’s beard…ope. I was wrong. Tremont has a fork and we are forking around the ring. Ultimately, Tremont retained with a light tube assisted splash from the top rope.

As per usual, GCW brings a little bit of everything to the table in terms of wrestling styles, and while leaning into the deathmatch/hardcore, it’s not the entirety of the show. They are also gearing up for the Collective during Wrestlemania weekend. You can keep up to date at https://x.com/gcwrestling_

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
