On Friday April 4th, the Colorado Rockies promoted top pitching prospect Chase Dollander from the Triple-A team the Albuquerque Isotopes. Dollander was drafted #9 overall in the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Tennesse.

Dollander’s career stats in the minors are a 2.58 ERA, 174 strikeouts, and has only given up 7 HRs. Dollander also had some run during Spring Training but ultimately the Rockies sent him back down to Triple-A for some fine tuning.

The Rockies manager Bud Black stated in an interview that Dollander will get the nod to pitch on Sunday when they take on the Athletics. Rockies fans definitely were in need of some good news after the rocky start, no pun intended, after another series loss vs the Phillies during the week.

Dollander could very well bolster this pitching rotation with the talent that he possesses. His promotion could also inject some much-needed excitement into this Rockies fan base to get up for.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
