April Provides Tough Test
With the Chicago Cubs set to begin their 2025 season in Arizona, it is time to remind fans of why baseball season is full of ups and downs.
The Cubs, who already begin the season 0-2 from their Japan trip vs. the Dodgers, are set to endure another very grueling stretch in April.
In just April alone the Cubs play the Dodgers 5 more times, the Diamondbacks 7 times, the Padres 6 times, the Phillies 3 times, and the much-improved A’s team 3 times all in one month.
It is single-handedly the hardest schedule in a month for any MLB team.

Stay In The Hunt
For the Cubs to achieve October baseball they must survive April. If they do that, what follows is the easiest month of their season in May.
The Brewers—who have controlled the Central going on 3 years now—have their easiest month in April, so it matches up with the Cubs having to play their toughest stretch.
Surviving April with 10 wins is probably the best-case scenario with the brutal gauntlet of traveling twice to the West Coast—and on top of it is playoff contender after playoff contender after playoff contender.
With Kyle Tucker in the fold the Cubs can’t afford to waste their one season with him; to do so would make April the toughest test. If survived, the schedule eases up and the stretch run begins to October baseball.
