We head to PPG Paints Arena as the Pittsburgh Penguins welcome in the visiting New York Rangers. Both teams come in off embarrassing losses yesterday, as the Rangers fell 8-2 to Buffalo on the road. The Penguins weren’t much better  suffering a 8-3 loss at home to the hands of the Washington Capitals. 

We expected a little rust with teams coming off the all star break, but eight goals allowed is unacceptable. Both teams turn to their backup goalies who made relief appearances in yesterday’s matchups. Jonathan Quick for NY has helped keep their season afloat while Igor Shesterkin went down. Quick has won his last two starts entering today’s matchup. 

Joel Blomqvist for Pittsburgh hasn’t had much success, as he was demoted to the AHL earlier this year. Blomqvist is 3-8 giving up almost four goals a game. Botha teams will be looking to bounce back, but NY should have an extra pep in their step after losing to Pittsburgh 3-2 February 7th at the Garden.
