SCW Pro returned to the Blue Grass Community Center on February 7th for Heartbreak. Despite the change from the usual day of the week, it was standing room only for the return of former SCW Pro Tag Team Champion Jah-C

The event starts with Deonn Rusman calling out “The Devil Dog” Dunstan Moseley. Moseley appeared via satellite stating that he will not grace the morons of Blue Grass with his presence, but he will be at Wildwood Saloon March 22.

Dante Leon comes out and wants to promo too. When I try to come out to cut promos, I’m told “Sir, this is a Wendy’s.” Rusman is not enthused and is promptly donked with the microphone.

Dante Leon vs. Deonn Rusman
I guess we has a match. The match initially starts outside the ring…though we had to wait for the competitors to actually get into the for the match to start. Leon spent a lot of the match showing off and jaw jacking. Even using cocky pin 6 was not enough to put the Iceberg away. Things went downhill for Leon as he tried to win with Rusman’s patented spear. Finally deciding to get serious, Leon whiffs his fastball punch and is broken in half by a Rusman spear, giving Rusman the victory.

Bruss Hamilton vs. Mason Beck

These are big meaty men slapping meat and everything you would want in a hoss fight. Both competitors demonstrated their strength, attempting to lift each other and hammer away with brutal strikes. However, it was the veteran edge of Beck with some assistance from a handful of tights to allow Beck to be victorious.

Tag Team Gauntlet Match to Determine the #1 Contender for the SCW Pro Tag Team Championships

Dominik Zagrius & Mason Greyskull and Carlos Oliva & Johnny Wisdom are our first two tag teams. This is Greyskull’s in ring debut for SCW Pro after realizing that the biased life of a referee is not for him. However, Johnny Wisdom chose to welcome him with a clothesline for the first elimination.

Former champions Jaxamore are out next. Oliva wanted to show what he could do on his own, which is a poor strategy for a tag match with the former Tag Team Champions. Oliva learned this the hard way by getting shot through the heart with the Tigrelbow to be eliminated. It’s okay Carlos, Johnny still loves you.

Thumb & Finger have reunited! These two have been estranged since the pandemic, but Finger has been working towards forgiveness since his return to SCW Pro last year. Evidently the magic was still there, as Thumb and Finger were a well-oiled machine, putting away the former champs with a spinning side slam-leg drop combination to dispatch JaxAmore and become new #1 contenders to the Tag Team Championship.

James Thomas with his security guard, Brandon Becker, call out Ript Studwell. Thomas had become the #1 contender for the QC last month. Thomas states that he will cash in his opportunity in April at Epic. Thomas puts over the history between the two before stating that Thomas made Studwell. Thomas wants to shake Studwell’s hand as Becker attacks Studwell with the hammer. Studwell is beaten down as Marek Brave and security storm the ring.

Krotch is out to say goodbye to the SCW Pro fans. Krotch was forced to retire after a loss to Eric Eznite at Prestige. Before Krotch can get much reminiscing done, Eric Eznite and the Chosen interrupt. Eric says that Krotch missed the message. Krotch, the hip shaking hero is gone, but Matt Mayday can be reborn and wrestle. Eric Eznite has saved another soul, and by proxy, helped saved the souls of the SCW Pro faithful. Since Matt Mayday can wrestle, he wants a title match right now. Eznite declines, as Matt needs to start from the bottom. Instead, Matt can wrestle Malik Champion

Malik Champion vs. MATT

Matt has not missed a beat in ring but is missing his pelvic thrusts. Luckily, MATT has offense that is not based on pelvic thrusting…though fought the urge at various points to hit moves like the Ball Pit and Space Balls. Champion was game though and took it to the multi-time SCW Pro Champion. Eric Eznite, noticing the ref bias, took to the ring apron to complain. Eznite’s presence distracted Krotch, who fell victim of Champion’s rock bottom. This must be considered an upset by Champion regardless of how the victory came and why I trust Champion.

After the match, Eznite was feeling good. He offers an open challenge in a trios match.

The Chosen v Jack Reaper, Lonzo Romero, & David Ratel
Ratel is making his SCW Pro in-ring debut (also doffing the stripes). Ratel looked strong, taking to the skies early, confounding the members of the Chosen. However, it did not take long for the established grouping of the Chosen to take over the rag tag trio. Things eventually broke down and Hollister was left alone with Romero. Hollister looked to have victory in the bag after a brainbuster, but would not follow orders Shug didn’t tag Eznite fast enough. While Eznite chastised the Felonious Monk, Romero would roll Eznite up for a flash victory. Another upset victory! Also why I told Eznite that I don’t trust Hollister.
After the match, Eznite ordered the Chosen to beat down Hollister as a lesson. I believe that the kids nowadays call this tough love.

Jah C returns to tell us a story and remind us who he is.

SCW Pro Iowa Championship: Jah C vs. John Bonhart w/Mark Storm
Jah-C started the match outwrestling the younger Bonhart. However, liberal interference by the Raiders loving Storm allowed Bonhart to take over. Somehow a rubber chicken was introduced into the match. Bonhart donked the ref with the chicken and was not disqualified for it. Another example of ref bias. Storm ate a couple of shots from Jah before Jah could take over. Jah was ready to put the champion away when a rando lady from front row jumps into the ring low blows Jah-C functionally ending the match and allowing Bonhart the win. Bonhart stood tall with Storm and his newfound friend before taking their exit. The crowd showed their appreciation for Jah-C.

Another strong showing for SCW as it continues its way to Epic. Some new faces and returning favorites kept the crowd noisy. SCW Pro’s next evet is at the Englert in Iowa City on February 20th. SCW Pro can be found on social media on Facebook and Twitter.

Rob Kamerer is the host of the MLW Con-Fusion podcast, and may or may not ride the coattails of the Chosen. He can be found on FacebookBlueSky, and Twitter.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
