You couldn’t have written it any better for the Chicago Bears.
Sure they ended with a 5-12 record, but what I think most fans can attest to is that one of those wins was against the dreaded Green Bay Packers.
It was looking like the game was gonna follow an all too familiar pattern as the Bears controlled the game. That was until DJ Moore fumbled the ball with 1:52 remaining.
Bears fans could just sigh and only watch as the Packers would just drain the clock and kick the field goal and win. Right?
Well, the Bears defense got the stop, which set up a 55-yard field goal for Brandon McManus, which he drilled to put the Packers up 22-21.

Bears would get the ball around their own 20 with 48 seconds and 1 timeout. A flag for horse collar gave them 15 yards and then 15 more, on a catch by Rome Odunze. Caleb Williams almost sacked after a 4 yard scramble and then a flag for illegal shift put the ball at the midfield on 3rd & 11. Next an 18 yard completion to DJ Moore and a spike with 2 seconds left gave the Bears life to setup a Cairo Santos Field Goal.
Will the fate of week 18 match the disappointment of week 11 when a blocked Field Goal kept the Bears from winning that one. But, this outcome was different. The Bears luck was finally flipped for a change.
As Santos booted the ball over the Packers defenders and through the crossbar you could almost see the elation in the live crowd and hear the collective exhale all over the city of Chicago.
After a trying season of heartbreaks and just straight disappointment, the Bears ended their season on a high note that had not been felt in 6 years.
Here, however, is hoping the Bears are actually playing meaningful games again and not just wishing for one more win to end at 5-12. But as the season ends, I will take some cheese with my disappointment.
