We head to the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota as the Timberwolves welcome in the visiting San Antonio Spurs. Minnesota comes in winners of their last two contest, after defeating the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets. The Wolves really wanted to beat Dallas after being eliminated by them in last years postseason. Dallas also beat Minnesota earlier this season before Wednesday’s recent showdown. On Friday Anthony Edwards hit a game winning shot against Houston to avenge a defeat suffered against the Rockets on November 26th.

Minnesota returns home after a three game road trip and could be schedule watching with a big game coming up against Western Conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder. San Antonio comes in 9th in the West only sitting 3.5 games back of the 4th seed. The Spurs lost to the Wolves 106-92 back on December 15th. Chris Paul was held scoreless in that matchup and I highly doubt that happens again tonight.

With just returning from the road and OKC on deck, I’m not sure how much motivation Minnesota has tonight. Playing at the 23rd slowest pace in the league, the Wolves are clearly more talented, but I think San Antonio can keep this one close.
