What a way to give Thanks, on Thanksgiving as the Cowboys won their second game in a row. Yes I know it’s the lackluster Giants. But a win is a win. The Cowboys improved to 5-7 on the season as they welcomed Brandin Cooks back. He played last week vs. the Commanders, but expect him to get more reps as the Cowboys, try to make a run for the playoffs.

In most cases, injuries get pushed aside from the fans, all the pundits that follow the Cowboys, say injuries are part of the game. But prior to this mini two game winning streak, injuries really hurt the Cowboys. You can say part of it is due to the lack of depth on this team, for not signing players in the off-season. Apart from that it really showed in their play. But getting key players like Micah Parsons back, has really invigorated this defense and it shows on the field, in their work ethic and fire.
The Cowboys were definitely better than the Giants on Thanksgiving Day, although the final score of 27-20 didn’t indicate that. They also beat the Giants in Week five in the Meadowlands and that game was little too close for comfort as well.
They have a chance to make a bit of run to get back into the playoff race. Next week will be the biggest test for the Cowboys defense, as they face Joe Burrow and the Bengals, as well as a great receiver in Jamar Chase. But the Cowboys will handle the challenge and seem more confident.
It sure makes a difference with Micah Parson Back. He has totalled 5.5 sacks since his return from injury. He had only 1 sack before his injury. When Parsons is playing like his usual self, the other players on the defense rase their games as well. Demarvion Overshown, in the last two games is playing like a man possessed. On Thanksgiving Day he intercepted a pass for a touchdown, which was out of this world. Osa Odighizuwa, has quietly put together a great season, and he is getting pressure on the quarterback. He will be sought after in Free-agency. Hopefully the Cowboys can resign him.
Brandon Cooks’ impact was felt in a huge way. Although he only caught 3 balls for 16 yards, one was for a touchdown, and the other sealed the game on a third down pass.
DaRon Bland returned last week, and he has solidified the secondary since his return. With Trevon Diggs missing his second game in a row, hopefully the long break, will get him healthy and those two can be together for the stretch run.

On the offensive line side,Tyler Smith returned, and Rico Dowdle is finally finding his rhythm, as he rushed for 112 yards, which was the Cowboys first 100 game rushing this season.
If you analyse and go back to the first game of the season, the Cowboys were healthy, but since that time, of the 22 starters who started that game, 13 of them have missed at least one game since that time, with the biggest been Dak Prescott who was lost for the season, with season ending groin surgery.
That’s one of the reasons, the Cowboys have struggled since that time.
As the Cowboys head down the stretch health will be key in December. Will the Cowboys make a push for the playoffs? With their confidence very high right now, the opportunity is there.
With their big win on Thursday they gave the fans something to be thankful for.
