Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez has become a household name in the sport of boxing. Known for being one of the most exciting fighters south of the featherweight division, he has become a must watch.

Saturday night was no exception.

Rodriguez successfully defended his “titles” with an impressive 3rd round KO win over Pedro Guevara to remain undefeated and show the world why he’s the 3rd best fighter in the world behind Oleksandr Usyk and Naoya Inoue. A masterclass performance that ended with a perfectly placed uppercut that put Guevara on his back.

Rodriguez controlled the fight from the beginning with his tight defense and right jab out of the southpaw stance. Coming forward throughout the fight, he kept Guevara moving backward and started landing to his body.

In the 3rd round, Rodriguez trapped Guevara in the corner and started landing at will.  A straight left hand by Rodriguez floored Guevara. After Guevara beat the count, Rodriguez went after Guevara looking for the finish. A perfectly placed uppercut 30 seconds later put Guevara down on his back, forcing the referee Ricky Gonzalez to stop the fight.

Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez was declared the winner at 2:47 of round 3.

After the fight, Rodriguez called out for future unification fights against fellow super flyweight champions Fernando Martinez and Phumelele Cafu. However, it’s been rumored that his next fight may likely be against the legendary Roman “Chololatito” Gonzalez. Regardless, he’ll be a favorite against anyone he fights at super flyweight simply because he’s the complete package. He showed once again why he’s one of the best in the world.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
