The Reds have made the following transactions as of November 2nd, 2024:

Catcher Luke Maile‘s $3.5MM option was declined in favor of a $500K buyout.

Pitcher Nick Martinez elected FA. Martinez turned down a $12MM player option and thus became a free agent.

Pitcher Jakob Junis elected Free agency by denying his end of an $8MM option.

Pitcher Christian Roa was claimed off waivers by Miami. Roa is a 25 year old right-hander who was on the 60 day IL. But all IL distinctions go away 5 days after the conclusion of the World Series. The Reds tried to sneak Roa through waivers instead of placing him on the 40 man roster.

INF Ty Francecleared waivers and elected free agency. He was projected to earn $8+ Million in his final year of club control.

Pitcher TJ Antone was DFA’d. Antone accepted an outright assignment and will remain with the club and continue mending from his third elbow surgery.

Pitcher Brent Suter signed a 1 year deal to stay in Cincinnati with club option for 2026. The Reds held a club option on the Cincinnati native for $3.5MM. But instead, they showed loyalty to him, they signed him to a one year contract that guarantees him $2.25 MM with the above mentioned at $3MM. According to other sources, the Reds also paid Suiter the $500K buyout prior to signing his new contract.

Catcher Austin Wynns elected FA. He’s a career .230/.277/.332 hitter in 673 plate appearances split among five big league teams.

Nick Martini elected FA. Martini is a career .294/.399/.454 hitter in parts of eight Triple-A seasons and a .252/.336/.400 hitter in 575 big league plate appearances.

Emilio Pagán opted into player option for 2025. That means he will receive an $8MM dollar salary instead of a $250,000 buyout.

The Reds should extend a qualifying offer to Martinez at the minimum. I would love to see Junis come back should Martinez sign elsewhere. This offseason is crucial for Cincinnati. We can expect some more prominent announcements when players can officially sign with teams at 5pm ET on November 4th.
