The patchwork Dallas Cowboys defense will entertain the high flying Detroit Lions offense on Sunday Afternoon at AT&T stadium in Arlington.

Last week in Pittsburgh the Cowboys defense, without stars Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence came through in the clutch. The Mantra of next man up will be on display this weekend as well. Dak Prescott led the Cowboys on a last minute game winning drive, finding Jalen Tolbert, on a fourth down pass to win the game.

The Lions are coming off a bye week, and are coming off a two game win streak, and are looking to make it three wins in a row to carry that momentum vs. the Cowboys. The Lions are second in the NFC North, with a record of 3-1, 1.5 games behind the surprise team of the league, the Minnesota Vikings who are a perfect 5-0.

For the season, the Lions are ranked 7th in the league, in passing yards averaging 245 yards a game. But where the Lions are balanced, is in the running game which they average 151.3 yards a game, with the number six ranked offense. The Lions average 26 points a game, which is 6th ranked as well, and they have the 10th ranked defense, giving up 20 points a game.

The Cowboys went toe to toe vs the Steelers on Sunday night, winning a nail-biter. The Cowboys sit at 3-2 on the season, which is good for second place in the NFC East, one game behind the surprising Washington Commanders.

Statistically the Cowboys are averaging 271 passing yards a game, which is second in the League. Those numbers are scewed as the Cowboys have had to rely on the pass, in their blow out losses to the Ravens and Saints. Dak Prescott has shown he can carry this team when he has to. The rushing attack came to light last week, as Rico Dowdle carried most of the load with 82 yards, and was a work horse as the game progressed. It looks like Zeke Elliott is the odd man out. The Cowboys can’t give up on him, as he is useful on goal line plays.

The Cowboys do have some injury concerns. Michah Parsons, and Demarcus are out, and just last night Erik Hendricks, it was announced, will miss the game with an injured ankle. There is some potential good news, as it seems that Daron Bland might play according to Coach Mike Mccarthy.

The Cowboys have won two in a row, after it seemed the season was lost. Yes they did okay vs the woeful Giants, and beat the Steelers and their number one defense. Up until facing the Steelers, the Cowboys running attack was woeful. Rico Dowdle has assumed the lead back role, and clearly shows he deserves it. Dak Prescott was making plays, to receivers other then Ceedee Lamb. Jalen Tolbert made the big plays, shows he belongs, and can be trusted in key situations. Even Kavonte Turpin made a few game breaking plays as well. Defensively, minus the injuries, the Cowboys backups rose to the occasion and made plays when needed. Against the Lions they will have to pressure Jared Goff.

This will be a close game. Ceedee Lamb has to show up in the second half. He will be doubled team, but the Cowboys have to get him involved. The Cowboys will get their running game going, make a few stops on defense, win a tight one at the end, and go to 4-2 on the season, with a much needed buy coming up next week.
