On October 5th, SCW Pro returned to the Blue Grass Community Center to teach us their Wicked Ways. Alex McCarthy (who claims to not be a member of the Chosen) is our announcer for the evening, & Timothy Regal & Knight Wagner are on commentary duty.

The Chosen (Eric Eznite, Shane Hollister, Malik Champion, Augustus Draven) vs. Krotch, JP Finger, Carlos Oliva, & Johnny Wisdom
SCW Pro Champion, Eric Eznite, gets on the mic & put over Shane Hollister’s epiphany. Shane is now thoroughly entrenched within the chosen and not just wearing fancy new clothes. Eznite also raises concerns that Krotch, the new #1 contender for the SCW Pro Championship, is the worst influence on the SCW Pro fans. Our technico team arrive, with Krotch getting a mic. Krotch admits to being a proud sinner and proud bad influence. He wants to have this atomicos match, now!
This is Johnny Wisdom’s return from injury and he was chomping at the bit for action…at least until he was dropped with a four-man Eternal Blackout. The upstart, Carlos Oliva took most of the beatings by the Chosen. However, Krotch was ready to take advantage of the eight-man chaos & put down the champ with the Krotch Rocket.

John Bonhart w/Mark Storm vs. Lonzo Romero
Romero is looking for that breakout win & took the fight to the former QC Cup holder. Unfortunately, there is a reason Bonhart held the cup for almost a year. Oh, part of that was Mark Storm…who was wearing the finest of Spirit Halloween suit. This two on one assault was too much for Romero who fell to the GTS to lariat combo.
After the match, Bonhart & Storm looked to send a message to Iowa Champion, Corn Boi, & conducted a post-match beating on Romero. There were spikes on those fancy shoes Storm was wearing, & they looked to put those spikes into Romero’s eyes. Despite the inconsequential yelling of SCW Pro commissioner, Sean Morrow, Romero done got spiked. Then Corn Boi came to the rescue. Just a tad late.
Mason Beck vs Joe Carrey
Carrey’s got jokes. Bad jokes, like, worse than mine. No wonder his gimmick is that no one lets him tell jokes. Luckily Mason Beck is here & is now a good guy. Kick. Beck bomb. Elementary.

Tarlee vs Blair Onyx
Back & forth action started with mutual respect. At least respect until Onyx outmaneuvered Tarlee, then Tarlee made it personal. Tarlee talked of carrying Onyx’s career while supplying a beatdown. However, victory was not in the cards as Onyx tapped Tarlee out with the Muta lock.
Jaxamore vs. “Disfigured” James Thomas & Brandon Becker
The real news is that Thomas shaved his moustache. Using this increased aerodynamics, Thomas and Becker controlled a majority of the match, laying a beating on the Tiger of Love. However, Jaxamore were multiple time tag team champions for a reason, with the former champs getting the hot tag & a rejuvenated Amore hitting the pawtastic elbow for three.

JT Energy vs. Jared Thumb
Energy reminded the viewers at home that Thumb was the first victim of the Breathtaker. Thumb continued to do a Steve Austin impression. Energy spent a majority of the match working over Thumb’s leg, preventing the former tag champ from clicking, clicking, or booming. Despite missing one bullet in the barrel, Thumb fought valiantly. Unfortunately, wrestling is the human game of chess, & Energy caught Thumb with a roll-up, allegedly with Energy’s feet on the ropes to pin Thumb’s shoulders to the mat.

QC Cup: Calvin Kelly vs. Ript Studwell
JT Energy stared down Ript during Ript’s entrance…foreshadowing perhaps? I had problems differentiating the opponents with long, blond hair, & matching tights. Luckily Ript is allegedly well over 500lbs. & was much larger than the challenger. Kelly did get the opportunity to show off, stymying most attempts of the champ to maintain an advantage. Ript made use of some big moves to do some damage, including Ript’s trademark Pay Dirt and Big Splash. However, it was a diving DDT from the top rope that kept the upstart challenger down.
Iowa Championship: Corn Boi vs. Dante Leon
Part one of this match did not last long, as Leon decided that the best way to lose the match was to punch Corn Boi in the nether region right in front of the referee. That’s certainly one way to not win the championship. Corn demands a street fight after accusing Leon of having a lack of huevos. We get the go ahead and the match is restarted under street fight rules. A plunger, crutch, & kendo were put into use. Corn Boi was also locked out of the community center as well. Once all the competitors were back in the community center, we got doors, ladders, and chairs. The champion and challenger climbed the ladder, precariously placed above a “table” made of the door and two chairs. Corn Boi decided it wasn’t enough to just choke slam Leon through the door, but also decided to finish the challenger with a front dropkick halfway up the ladder to retain the championship.
SCW Pro starts off the fall season in transition with the Corn Boi being the only champion retaining his championship since Anniversary last month. Obviously, there will be some growing pains as the new challengers are being established and new stories are told. SCW does have a busy month ahead of it though, with their next show taking place at the 7th anniversary of Wake Brewing October 12th, and Hawkamania: Walk Among Us in Iowa City on October 18th.
SCW Pro returns to Wildwood in Iowa City on September 21st, featuring a number one contender’s tournament. SCW Pro can be found on social media on Facebook and Twitter.
Rob Kamerer is the host of the MLW Con-Fusion podcast, and contributor to the Urban Wrestling Network. Despite being a sinner, he is a strong supporter of the Chosen. He can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
