Nobody has as much attention to detail and preparation than Lakers Head Coach JJ Redick. That goes all the way back to when he was suiting up for Mike Krzyzemski and Duke. Throughout Training Camp and the first 2 Preseason games, Redick has maintained a stead fast approach to attention to detail and communication with players on how he sees fit with rotations and player skill sets.
However, it is most important to note that Redick is a rookie head coach. He never came from a G League team, he never came from a high school or college team. He has ZERO experience in the coaching field. ZERO. So for the Lakers and their fans patience is a must.
Lakers fired Darvin Ham mostly because of his inability to teach players and run an organized offense. Redick was brought in to be that and be a little more for the purple and gold.
Matter of fact since Phil Jackson was let go the Lakers have gone through 6 head coaches in the span of 12 years. From A’ntoni to Walton to Vogel to Redick it has been constant turnover. For Redick the struggle is no different. He is coaching one of the greatest players in NBA History in his final couple of seasons in LeBron James and must also think about the post LeBron future.
It isn’t a easy job by any means especially in an environment like the Lakers. The organization that prides itself off of Championships and star players needs Redick to be able to maintain the “Lakers excellence” from now until the future but patience must remain especially in his 1st season at the helm.
