How is Week 6 going to follow a great weekend of college football.

We had a big upset as the unranked Kentucky Wildcats went into Oxford and beat #12 Ole Miss. The Rebels were a sleeper team to get as far as the conference championship game. This loss almost assures that won’t happen now. The best they can hope for is to sneak into the college football playoffs. 3 of their next 5 opponents are ranked, so the task is tall now.

#5 Georgia at #1 Alabama gave us the game of the year so far. They mounted an epic comeback in the fourth quarter, only to have their hearts broken a mere seconds later.

True freshman WR Ryan Williams goes 75-yards to the house on the very first play after the ensuing kickoff, to give Alabama a 41-34 victory. QB Jalen Milroe absolutely showed why he’s in the forefront of the Heisman Trophy conversation(and who I predicted to win at the beginnig of the season), completeing 27 of 33, for 374 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. He was also the Crimson Tide’s leading rusher as well. He had 16 carries for 117 yards and 2 more TD’s.

The Arizona Wildcats beat the #18 Utah Utes 23-10. It was a BIG win for the Wildcats, as they got spanked by #20 Kansas State 31-7 in their conference opening game. KSU beat up on Oklahoma State 42-20 on Saturday. The Big-12 Conference is wide open this season. It’s going to be such a fun to watch all the chaos that’s going to happen.

Here is the Real Top 10.

  1. Texas Longhorns
  2. Alabama Crimson Tide
  3. Ohio State Buckeyes
  4. Georgia Bulldogs
  5. Tennessee Volunteers
  6. Oregon Ducks
  7. Penn State Nittany Lions
  8. Miami Hurricanes
  9. Missouri Tigers
  10. Michigan Wolverines

The #3 Ohio State Buckeyes will finally play a top-level defense, when they take on the Iowa Hawkeyes, on CBS at 3:30 PM (EST).

Ohio State continues to dominate as “WR U” in the sport, as true freshman WR Jeremiah Smith made play after play. His size and speed gives everyone problems. If you want to shut him down, there’s WR Emeka Egbuka on the other side. Add in the running game with Henderson and Judkins, and it’s a “pick your poison” scenario.

Ohio State wins 35-13.

While there aren’t many “big time” games, there are some very interesting games on the docket. Conference play has begin, so the games really start counting toward the CFP and potential seeding 5-12.

3 Most Intriguing Games.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-0) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-1). Game time is 4:00 PM (EST) on FS1. Who foresaw Rutgers being undefeated starting conference play? Not I. Has Nebraska found it’s QB?

Syracuse Orange (3-1) at #25 UNLV Rebels (4-0). Game time is Friday Night at 9:00 PM (EST) on FS1. Syracuse needs to keep pace in the ACC and UNLV is going for the G5 spot.

#8 Miami Hurricanes (5-0) at California Golden Bears (3-1). Game time is 10:30 PM (EST) on ESPN. The Hurricanes are riding QB Cam Ward as far as he’ll take them. Cal has them coming all the way to Cali and are still mad about being robbed against FSU.

Is there a more invaluable player to a team, than HB Ashton Jeanty is to the Boise State Broncos?

Upset of the Week.

I’m taking the unranked Baylor Bears (2-3) to go into Ames, Iowa and beat the #16 Iowa State Cyclones with a last-minute stop. 27-23.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
