The Reds travel to Minnesota to take on the Twins for a 3 game series. The Reds are 3-7 since sweeping the Astros.

Game 1:

Julian Aguiar gets the start for the Reds vs Bailer Ober. The Reds would jump out early on a TJ Friedl solo home run in the 2nd inning.

Julian Aguiar was cruising along through the first 4 up until Byron Buxton would take him deep in the bottom of the 5th, Twins tie the game up at 1. The Reds would bust it open in the 7th, TJ Friedl would hit a bunt single that would score Spencer Steer from third. Steer reached on a leadoff triple. Ty France would hit an RBI double to score Friedl from 1st, and Elly De La Cruz would hit his first career Grand Slam to cap off a 6 run 7th inning.

Elly’s 100th career extra base hit was a grand slam. The Twins would score 3 in the bottom half of the 7th, but the Reds would respond in the 8th on a TJ Friedl RBI single. Alexis Diaz would pitch a perfect 9th as the Reds go on to win 8-4.

Game 2:

Nick Martinez gets the start for the Reds on Saturday. He squares off against Simeon Woods Richardson. The Twins get on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first on a RBI infield single off the bat of the speedy Byron Buxton. That’s all the Twins would get in the inning, they lead 1-0. The Reds would load the bases in the 3rd, but Jake Fraley would be caught trying to score on a wild pitch, the Reds would fail to score in the inning. Cincinnati would get runners on first and third in the 4th. Ty France would hit a slow roller to third and reach on an infield single, getting the runner in from third to tie the game at 1. Noelvi Marte would bat with the bases loaded and drive in 2 on an automatic double, the Reds lead 3-1. Next batter Jonathan India would drive in Fraley and Marte to extend the Reds lead to 5-1. 2 batters later, Spencer Steer would rip a double in the right field gap to score both India and De La Cruz to add on, the Reds lead is up to 6. To cap off a 9 run inning, TJ Friedl would play long ball, blasting a 2 run home run to give the Reds a 9-1 lead.

Jake Fraley would homer in the top of the 5th to play add on, the Reds lead 10-1. The Reds would add 1 more in the 8th on a Will Benson RBI single, and Brent Suter would get the save in a 3 inning outing to seal the Reds win and series win.

Game 3:

Rhett Lowder gets the start for the Reds on Sunday as the Reds look to sweep the Twins. David Festa is on the mound for Minnesota. The Reds get on the board first on a RBI triple from Spencer Steer, scoring Tyler Stephenson from first.

Steer would score on a Ty France sac fly to give the reds a 2-0 lead. Minnesota would get 4 in the 4th inning off of Lowder and reliever Tony Santillan. Minnesota woukd also score 5 in the 7th on a Carlos Santana 2 run home run and a Brooks Lee 3 RBI triple. The Twins go on to win 9-2. Rhett Lowder pitched well, going 5.1 innings with 5 strikeouts and a walk but get credited with the loss. Elly De La Cruz would have a rough day on the base paths getting thrown out trying to extend a single into a double and a caught stealing.

The Reds are off on Monday and return home for the final time this season to take on the Atlanta Braves for a 3 game series. Brandon Williamson is the probable starter for the Reds, the Braves have yet to announce a starter.
