The Dallas Cowboys, will host the New Orleans Saints, in their homeopener, on Sunday in Dallas.

Both teams, were very impressive in their season opening games. The Cowboys waltzed into Cleveland, and handled the Browns quiet easily, winning 33-10.The Saints put up 47 points in a convincing win. Mind you it was the panthers, but still very impressive. This should be one of the most exciting games, in Week 2 of the 2024-2025 season.

The Saints missed the playoffs last season, but looked like one of the contenders in the NFC North with their impressive win last week. As a road team, the Saints haven’t played very well. They are 1-4 away from the friendly confines of the Super Dome. They have a tough schedule ahead. After playing the Cowboys, they host the Eagles, followed by road games against Kansas City and Atlanta.

The Saints have a long injury list with 13 players, with a few big names, that might not play. Key players in their secondary, Marshon Lattimore and Tyrann Mathieu were limited in practice this week and that could hamper them vs the Cowboys and Ceedee Lamb.

Their offense was on fire in Week 1, but expect a drop off vs Mike Zimmers defense, led by Micha Parson and the defense. They will have to try to establish a run game, to keep the Cowboys on the field, to have a fighting chance.

The Cowboys went to Cleveland and won easily 33-17, which has become, one of the toughest stadiums to play, in the last couple of years. The Cowboys, were one of the best teams in the NFL last season at home. When the Cowboys start fast and score first, they are usually tough to beat. They will be looking to do that tomorrow afternoon.

The Cowboys have some injuries, but not as long as the Saints. They dodged a bullet with Jake Ferguson as he only has a calf strain. Doesn’t look like he will play, as he didn’t practice all week. The Cowboys will use Luke Schoonmaker as there tight end, and Hunter Luepke in blocking situations. Jalen Tolbert, has to step up in this game, as Ceedee Lamb will draw most of the coverage.

The Cowboys showed its balance in the opener, with the running back buy committee approach, but they still need to find a consistent running game. Zeke Elliott found the endzone in his return back with the Cowboys, after signing as a free agent with the Patriots last year. The Cowboys are looking for Rico Dowdle to be that explosive back, as well as Delvin Cook who is on the practice roster.

Dak Prescott, didn’t turn the ball over last week, which will help the running game. Ceedee Lamb made his return last week after a long holdout, and was great in the first half. As they built a large lead, they basically stuck to the run, but had opportunities, to find the endzone.

Final Prediction:

New Orleans was impressive in Week 1, but will be hard pressed to duplicate that, against a Cowboys team that was impressive on both sides of the ball, vs the Browns last week. New Orleans will be hard pressed to slow down the Dallas offense if the Cowboys show balance, with their running and passing game.

On the Defensive side of the ball the Cowboys, are built to pressure the quarterback, and will make life miserable for Derrick Carr, which will lead to some turnovers and a short field for the Cowboys offense to score quickly and often.

This will lead to a convincing win.

Final Prediction: Dallas Cowboys 34 New Orleans Saints 14.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
