The Milwaukee Brewers visit Great American Ballpark to play the Cincinnati Reds. Friday features a double header. The Reds have promoted 2023 1st round draft pick Rhett Lowder to the Major League team to start on Friday night.
Game 1:
Nick Martinez would start for the Reds, against Colin Rea for Milwaukee. In the bottom of the 1st, Elly De La Cruz would reach on an error, Spencer Steer bloop a single to right and Elly would advance to 3rd. TJ Friedl would ground into a fielders choice, De La Cruz would score. Reds lead 1-0. In the top of the 2nd, Reds killer Willie Adames would take Martinez deep to left, Brewers tie the game at 1. Santiago Espinal would hit a solo home run of his own, giving the Reds the lead 2-1.
Later in the inning, Elly De La Cruz would drive in Will Benson. Reds lead 3-1. Elly De La Cruz would be caught stealing to end the inning. The Brewers were threatening but TJ Friedl would rob Rhys Hoskins of a 2 run home run, ending the inning. The Brewers would storm back in the 4th, scoring 3 runs in the inning on a William Contreras home run and Sal Frelick 2 run single. Brewers lead 4-3. Jonathan India would crush a home run, tying the game at 4.
This game would go into extra innings, where the Brewers would score on a double play ball. The Reds would get runners on 1st and 3rd, but Ty France would pop out to right field, Reds lose 5-4.

Game 2:
Rhett Lowder is making his MLB Debut on Friday night against DL Hall. Rhett would pitch pretty well in his debut. He would walk the first 2 batters, but would get out of the inning on a ground out, pop out and fly out. Rhett would get his first career strikeout in the 2nd against Garrett Mitchell, he would finish the game with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks.
The only run Lowder allowed came off a deflected ball off Noelvi Marte to Elly De La Cruz, Brewers lead 1-0. Carson Spiers would give up a home run to Garrett Mitchell on his first pitch out of the bullpen, Brew Crew lead 2-0. It would be all Brewers from here on. Rhys Hoskins would homer in the 7th and the Milwaukee would score 10 runs in the ninth, lead by a Willy Adames 3 run home run. The Brewers would go on to sweep the double header and spoil Rhett Lowder’s debut, 14-0.

Game 3:
Frankie Montas returns to Cincinnati to take on the team he was traded from at the deadline, also making his first start against the Reds. The Reds are opting for a bullpen game starting Fernando Cruz.
Willy Adames would hit a three run home run off Buck Farmer to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead after 3. The Reds would finally get on the board in the 5th, on a 2 run single off Spencer Steer as the Reds trail 3-2 after 5. The brewers would get 1 more in the 6th on a groundout to the short stop De La Cruz. Amed Rosario would hit his 1st home run as a Red, tying the game at 4.
Noelvi Marte would be robbed of a potential go ahead home run to end the inning. Jackson Chourio would hit a go ahead solo home run in the 9th to put the Brew Crew up 5-4. The Reds would make a late rally but would come up short on a tremendous play by Jake Bauer. Milwaukee wins the game 5-4 and the series.

Game 4:
Brandon Williamson makes his season debut after coming off the 60 day IL for a back injury. Jake Fraley was also removed from the IL and will start.
In the 2nd inning, Jake Fraley would jump on the first pitch he saw and hit a solo home run to right field. Reds lead early 1-0.
Later in the inning, Jonathan India would lift a sac fly to left, Jackson Chourio would make a great catch, but Amed Rosario would score without a throw. In the 3rd, Blake Perkins would lift a sac fly with the bases loaded, all runners would advance as the Brewers trail 2-1. In the 4th, Willy Adames would homer again, his 4th of the series and ties the game at 2. Brice Turang would drive in Joey Ortiz in the 5th on a single up the middle, giving Milwaukee a 3-2 lead. Brandon Williamson was pretty good in his return, he was pitching on a limit but would go 3.1 innings, allow 4 hits, 2 earned runs and 5 strikeouts. In the bottom of the 5th, Jonathan India would score on a sac fly by TJ Frield, De La Cruz would advance to 2nd. He would be left stranded. In the top of the 10th, Jonathan India would throw out the potential go ahead runner for Milwaukee, the Reds would not score in the bottom half.
Santiago Espinal would be the hero for the Reds, scoring Rece Hinds on an infield single. Reds win 4-3.

The Brewers continue to dominate the Reds. The Reds have only 4 wins against the Brewers this season. The Reds will take on the Houston Astros starting Monday as they fight to keep any hopes of a Wild Card chance alive. Justin Verlander will get the start for Houston against Julian Aguiar for the Reds. Aguiar looks to bounce back from a really bad start last time out in his home debut. The last time Houston played in Cincinnati the Reds would sweep Houston on a walk off single by Jesse Winker.
