I am more excited for the college football season, than the NFL season.

This is one of those years, where we all think we know what’s going to happen. Ohio State and Georgia have the two most talented and deepest roster than everyone else, therefore, they’re going to meet for the National Championship.

Maybe. Maybe not.

I do know this; all the top teams have a weakness or a problem.

Uncertainly about the OL performance at Ohio State. Playmakers at WR and TE for Georgia. Michigan is replacing its HC, OC, and DC. An all-new coaching staff at Alabama. How will the QB play be at Oregon, Notre Dame, and Florida State? Of course, we have the ever-present over ranking of Miami and Texas A&M.

We all know, that the Big Ten and SEC are getting at least 3 teams in each. You can see a scenario where one or both conferences, can sneak a 4th team into the playoff this season.

That would leave 4 or 5 spots left for the Big 12, ACC, Notre Dame, and Group of Five winner to fill.

Anything can happen in the 12-team college football era, and it’s going to be fun, and sometimes annoying, to watch it all playout.

The Top 10.

  1. Georgia Bulldogs.
  2. Ohio State Buckeyes.
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide.
  4. Oregon Ducks.
  5. Texas Longhorns.
  6. Ole Miss Rebels.
  7. Penn State Nittany Lions.
  8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
  9. Michigan Wolverines.
  10. LSU Tigers.

I believe that the Buckeyes have the most depth and best overall team in college football. That said, I know that Georgia has the better QB. I also believe that Kirby Smart is a better head coach than Ryan Day. That said, Ohio State has more veteran leadership on the field and sidelines. Those are the top two teams in the country coming into the season.

The rest of it is arguable for all sides. Alabama has too much talent still there, and Milroe is back. Texas has Quinn Ewers at QB. Oregon got Dillion Gabriel to transfer in at QB. Penn State has a potentially elite QB in his second season and can pound that rock. Is this the year, they finally break through? You can’t forget about Heisman dark horse, QB Jaxon Dart from Ole Miss. As always, there’s talent abound in South Bend. Can Notre Dame, finally get good QB play? That’s all they need from transfer Riley Leonard.

The Games You Have to Watch.

  1. Michigan at Ohio State. (Nov. 30th)
  2. Georgia at Alabama. (Sept. 28th)
  3. Ohio State at Oregon. (Oct. 12th)
  4. Notre Dame at Texas A&M. (Aug. 31st)
  5. Ohio State at Penn State. (Nov 2nd)

It’s the most watched college football game, every single year. It’s the biggest rivalry in college football. Buckeyes vs Wolverines are must-see TV no matter what the records are. Bulldogs travel to Alabama for a potential SEC Championship preview game. Ohio State will be looking for revenge. Ducks came into Columbus and beat OSU in 2021. We will get a fast-measuring stick on where the Fighting Irish and Aggies are, when they square off in a Week 1 game. When you look at the Nittany Lions schedule, their hardest game is the Buckeyes, and they get them at home.

Bold Predictions.

  1. Ohio State will lose to Oregon at Autzen Stadium, but wins the rematch in the Big Ten Championship Game.
  2. Georgia will lose to either, Ole Miss or Tennessee.
  3. Penn State will go 11-1 during the regular season, but miss out on the B10 Title because they will lose to Ohio State.
  4. Texas is going to lose back-to-back games against Oklahoma and Georgia.
  5. The Arizona Wildcats are going to surprise everyone, by winning the Big 12 Championship and make the College Football Playoffs.

Just call it a hunch. I got a nagging feeling in my gut, that says Ohio State gets a bad call in Eugene, but show out when the rematch happens in Indianapolis. No team is going undefeated this year, and the Bulldogs will get tripped up. I think the Longhorns are going to look ahead to Georgia and end up losing to Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout. In all of the hoopla about the death of the Pac-12, a lot of people overlooked how the Wildcats finished 10-3 last season and had a 7-game winning streak to end the season. Arizona has the best returning QB in the conference, in sophomore Noah Fifita. They going to come out of the conference bloodied and with 2 or 3 losses, but they’ll rise above the rest.

Biggest disappointments.

  1. Michigan Wolverines.
  2. Florida State Seminoles.
  3. USC Trojans.
  4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
  5. Miami Hurricanes.

Michigan lost its HC, OC, DC, and lost 13 players to the NFL Draft. They have to play Texas and Oregon at home, as well as go to Columbus. I have them losing all 3 of those games. DJ Uiagaielei has proven that he cannot win the big games. I think they lose to Clemson on Oct 5th, and they’ll go 9-3. The Trojans have to play LSU, at Michigan, home against Penn State, at Washington, and home against Notre Dame. They’ll be lucky if they go 3-2 through that. I have them going 2-3 in those games. The Fighting Irish just always get in their own way. You can count on them tripping over their own feet in a game or two. This year, I think the Louisville is going to beat them again this year. It’s the Miami Hurricanes. All smoke and no fire. Cam Ward has transferred in a to play QB. They’ll lose 4 conference games and won’t even be in the conversation.

Heisman Trophy.

I am predicting the Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama will win the grandest trophy in college sports. He’ll throw for over 3,000 yards with 30 TDs and single digit INTs. He’ll rush for an additional 750 yards and 10 TDs.

The National Champion.

Through all the crazy up and downs that this season will bring, it’s going to ultimately come down to what we thought all along.

The Ohio State Buckeyes vs the Georgia Bulldogs will meet on January 20th, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

It will be a hardnosed, grind it out game, with highlight moments from both teams, but, Ohio State will get a late drive interception to ice the game with under a minute left.

Buckeyes win the inaugural 12-team College Football Championship 35-28.
