We head to Comerica Park in Detroit for the final game of this current four game series, between the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers. This is the tenth matchup of the season between these two teams, as KC leads 6-3 on the season. Detroit was able to get a much needed win last night in extra innings, after tying the game in the 9th and walking off in the 11th 6-5. Besides that Detroit has been brutal down the stretch, losing 9 of its last 13th ball games.
The Royals have had some chances to gain grown on the Guardians, but haven’t taken advantage of their opportunities. They dropped series to the Red Sox, Diamondbacks and Cubs over the last three weeks. Michael Wacha toes the rubber for KC this afternoon coming off a strong July sporting a 2.73 ERA. Detroit will go with a bullpen game, with Alex Faedo starting things off. He last started July 30th against the Guardians surrendering two runs across 1.2 IP.
I expect Kansas City to jump out early and take care of Detroit before heading home for a five game homestead. One of those being a huge series against Boston, who they only lead by 2.5 games for the final wild card spot.
