We head to Kauffman Stadium for the rubber match between the Kanas City Royals and the visiting Chicago Cubs. KC came away with a win on Friday night as Chicago responded Saturday with a 9-4 victory. A pinch hit grand slam from Patrick Wilson in the 7th inning gave the Cubbies a 7-4 lead before adding two more runs in the 9th.

The Royals hand the ball to their ace Cole Ragans who’s been dominate in the month of the July. Only surrendering five runs across 21 IP, Kansas City will be looking to win a home series before hitting the road for six games. After losing their previous home stand coming out of the all star break to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Holding onto a one game lead for the final wild card spot, KC doesn’t have much room for error.

Chicago’s playoffs hopes are pretty bleak as they sit six games back from a playoff berth. The Cubs will most likely move a some pieces with the trade deadline approaching this week. Javier Assad will toe the rubber for Chicago making his second start since coming off the IL. Even before his injury Assad allowed 10 home runs in his last eight starts posting a 5.59 ERA.

Hopefully All Star short shop and almost HR Derby champion Bobby Witt Jr can take Assad deep and give his ace some run support.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
