With the hoopla of the All-Star game and the Home Run Derby behind us, its time to get down to some serious baseball, as the Second Half of the 2024 Baseball season resumes on Friday Evening. Here are 3 things to keep an eye on, as teams jockey, for playoff position.

Can Aaron Judge do it again?

The baseball world will be watching, to see if Aaron Judge can duplicate his feat, of two years ago, with his record setting home run pace of 62 home runs. So far 2024 has been a magical season. He enters the second half with 34 home runs which is four off his magical season of 2022. Judge has a mind boggling slugging percentage of .679 and is in site of hitting the coveted .700 percent mark, with Babe Ruth the last Yankee to do so.

Who is Paul Skenes?

The Paul Skenes Mania train keeps on chugging along. Through 11 starts, he has a whopping era of 1.90 through his first 11 career starts. His starts are becoming jaw dropping, and he just might carry the Pirates to the playoffs all on his back. He went from National Champion at LSU to 1st round pick to National League All-Star starter in 13 months, what will the next 13 months bring? Can he keep the ERA below 2 for the entire season? Stay tuned for one of the great stories in the 2024 baseball season.

Close Division Races:

As the second half progresses, and we get into the dog days of August, the division races will be very tight. Four of the six current division races have leads, of less then five games. It will boil down to which of these teams, can win those close games, in early September. The AL East leading Orioles, and Al West leading Mariners have one game leads, so get ready for some nail biting games.
