Game 1: City Connect Energy

Friday night saw the Dodgers visit Great American Ball Park with James Paxton taking on Graham Ashcraft. The Reds jumped out early, with Spencer Steer blasting a three run home run to left center field, giving the Reds a 3-0 lead. The Dodgers would bounce back and score 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. Chris Taylor would hit a 2 RBI double, Mookie Betts would hit a RBI double and a Shohei Ohtani RBI ground out gave LA a 4-3 lead. In the top of the 5th, Will Smith hit a solo home run, giving LA a 5-3 lead. Bottom 5, Stuart Fairchild would lift a ball to left field, hitting the foul pole for a home run. Score now 5-4 LA. The wheels would fall off for the Dodgers in the bottom of the 5th. After loading the bases, Nick Martini would be hit by a pitch resulting in a run scored, tying the game. The following at-bat, after working the count full, Jonathan India lined a grand slam over the left field wall blowing the doors open. Reds now lead 9-5. The Dodgers would go on to score 1 on a solo home run from Teoscar Hernández, final score Reds 9, Dodgers 6.

Game 2: Reds Win a Series!!

Saturday’s game saw Walker Buehler face off against Reds rising star Hunter Greene. Over Greene’s previous 5 starts, he’s at 30 innings pitched, with a 2.09 ERA. Saturday would be more dominance from Greene. After a scoreless top half of the 1st, Spencer Steer would hit his 2nd home run in as many games, giving Cincinnati a 1-0 lead. The Dodgers would respond, tying the game on a ground ball double play with the bases loaded. Bottom 2, Will Benson takes the lead right back, with a no doubt opposite field shot to left field . Reds lead 2-1.

Hunter Greene was dominant, going 6 innings, allowing just 5 hits, 1 earned run and striking out 5.

Another strong outing from Hunter Greene

In the bottom of the 6th, Elly De La Cruz lined a single up the middle, scoring Jacob Hurtubise. That was all the Reds needed, Alexis Diaz would pitch a scoreless 9th, sealing the game and the series for the Reds.

The Reds win their 1st series in over a month. Cincinnati has held their own against LA over the last 2 season, with a record of 8-5 since 2023. The Reds look to complete the sweep Sunday afternoon.

Game 3: Reds complete the sweep

Game three would see Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitch for the Dodgers, as the Reds would use a bullpen day.

Brent Suter would pitch 0.2 allowing 1 hit. Utility pitcher Nick Martinez would relieve Suter. In the 3rd inning, Jonathan India would come through with the bases loaded, scoring 2 on a base hit to right field. Nick Martini would follow up with a bloop single to left after working the count full, scoring Jake Fraley and Jonathan India.

After a 1 hour and 9 minute rain delay, Carson Spiers would relieve Martinez pitching 3.1 innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits. Alexis Diaz would come in to face 2 Dodger hitters without allowing a hit, earning his 10th save of the season.
