The Cincinnati Reds have one of the most promising groups of young talent in baseball. The Cincinnati farm system is currently ranked in the top 10 with 4 players in the top 100 and also hold the 2nd pick in the 2024 draft! Here’s the most recent Reds prospects listed on MLB.com’s top 100.

#1. Rhett Lowder (25/100)

The number 7 overall pick in the 2023 draft was right handed pitcher Rhett Lowder. The 3 year standout at Wake Forest finished his college career with a record of 30-5 with an ERA at 3.29 in 47 starts and a strikeouts per 9 of 10.2. Rhett got off to a hot start in High A Dayton going 2-0 with an ERA at 2.49 and a SO/9 at 10.3. Rhett features a Fastball that touches 97 MPH with sink, a plus slider and one of the best changeups out of college. With a recent promotion to AA Chattanooga, Lowder could be a potential 1-2 starter in a loaded Reds rotation and could be fast tracked to the ML team as soon as late 2024 with opening day 2025 being more likely.

#2. Noelvi Marte (30/100)

Shortstop/3rd baseman Noelvi Marte saw his first cup of coffee with the Major League roster in August 2023. In 35 games Noelvi hit .316/.446/.822 and finished the season with a 16 game hitting streak and 22 game on base streak. Unfortunately, controversy would follow. Following an injury to his hamstring in winter ball, Marte would test positive for PED’s in March and would subsequently be suspended for 80 games. He has plus power and plus speed and I see an above average defender with a plus arm at 3rd. Marte will most likely rejoin the Reds later this year barring any setbacks but will be postseason ineligible if the Reds qualify. There’s a lot of potential in his game and has future All-Star potential, but Marte will have a lot to prove with the “steroid user” stigma now attached to him.

#3. Edwin Arroyo (55/100)

Shortstop Edwin Arroyo is just 20 years old as of May 2024. Arroyo is known as a sure handed defender with plus arm strength and above average speed. There is some pop is his bat but a smooth swing from the switch hitter sees gap to gap power. An unfortunate shoulder injury lead to surgery on his non throwing arm and will end the 2024 season for Arroyo, but with his work ethic and skills he could see major league time near the end of 2025 with 2026 being the most likely target for Edwin.

#4 Cam Collier (95/100)

3rd baseman Cam Collier is one of my favorite prospects in the organization. Drafted at just 17 in 2022 Cam is 5 days younger than Reds 2023 2nd round pick, high schooler Sammy Stafura. Cam’s professional career got off to a slow start in ‘23 in Low A Daytona. The power wasn’t there and he looked overmatched at times, but he was one of the younger players in the Florida State League. Cam finished last season batting .254/.463/.762. In 2024, Collier started the season out strong in High A Dayton slashing .298/.606/.933 with 7 home runs. Cam has plenty of raw power and a strong arm that projects well at 3rd base, but as he continues to fill out his frame he could see a transition to 1st base in the future. Currently May hasn’t been kind to Cam, so we’ll see how he rebounds but the sky is the limit!

Stay tuned as I will discuss more prospects in the near future!

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
