We head to the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada for the rubber game between the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays. Minnesota has been one of the hottest teams in baseball winning 16 of their last 19 games. After falling yesterday to the Blue Jays 10-8 the Twins should be looking to bounce back get back in the win column. Even without Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis Minnesota offense is still clicking as they lead 8-3 before the bullpen surrendered five runs.
On the mound for Minnesota will be Bailey Ober, whose number don’t jump off the stat sheet, but has won three straight games. Ober comes in 3-1 with a 4.42 ERA. He’ll be facing off against Blue Jays starter Alex Manoah, who I have no idea is still getting major league opportunities. Manoah made his 2024 season debut against the Nationals and didn’t make it pass the fourth inning. Manoah gave up six earned runs, six hits and two home runs. If you want to put anything positive on Manoah starting today is that at least maybe he’s at home, but I don’t think it’s going to matter.
The Twins have been too hot and too consistent of team of over the last two weeks and should be going for the sweep today. Normally, when you put up eight runs on the scoreboard you’re in a pretty good position to win. Minnesota is 12-8 on the road and will look to end this road trip on a positive note before heading home to face the Yankees. The line is low given Ober struggles on the road, but with Manoah being batting practice Ober just needs to keep the Twins in the game. Let’s put some money in the account and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.
