Today lets look at some hitters and pitchers to add, hold, drop and stash… I’ll tell you this out of pure frustration without even looking at some stats there are a few hitters I never want to see or have on my team ever again, I’ve literally lost all patience with a few right off. I am, and suggesting you do the same, drop Nick Castellanos, Paul Goldschmidt and Christian Encarnacion-Strand, yes I know the last one is young but I’m gonna do this as a standard 5 x 5 draft and not a dynasty league.

Who am i adding?

First hitter I am looking to add is Miami Marlins – Vidal Brujan 2B/3B/SS, right away I love the multi position eligibility but Brujan has been raking lately and will only get more playing time with the recent trade of Luis Arraez to the Padres. Brujan is 15 for 51 hitting .294 zero homers thus far but 4 RBI with 2 stolen bases and he’s being patient up there with 6 walks giving him an .819 OPS. The Marlins are not the greatest offensive threat out there but he is gonna play a lot and should keep hitting.

This pitcher I am looking to add is going to be making his debut so this is on minors stats and hype, SF Giants – Mason Black SP, yes making a pitcher top priority that hasn’t thrown an inning in the big leagues yet is a little odd, but I like what I see here. Mason Black on the season in the minors is 2-1 over 6 starts with a 1.01 ERA, 29 K in 26.2 IP and a miniscule 0.90 WHIP. This one is a definite gamble seeing as his start Monday is vs Philly and their Ace Zach Wheeler, but I’m feeling lucky on this one.

everyone needs a hand (or a bat) to hold on to

Lets hold onto Dodgers OF – Andy Pages this is if you were lucky to grab him when he started getting hot or had him on your bench or listed NA (minor leagues) Pages is off to a blistering start, he is 22 for 65, Pages has 4 HR with 12 RBI his is hitting .338 and has a .957 OPS, oh and 22 runs scored. Heck, its the Dodgers if he plays he is going to accumulate stats/points for you. Hold on tight. (Honorable mention to hold Luis Garcia Jr. of the Nationals he’s finally hitting, and hitting good.)

Minnesota’s SP – Baily Ober has ‘almost’ been a thorn in my side like hitters Goldy, Castellanos and Encarnacion-Strand, I said almost. I am holding onto Ober, he is 3-1 and he is still racking up the innings so the quality starts are there his K/IP ratio is almost a K/9, with 28 K in 31 IP. Ober is also not walking a lot of batters he has only issued 7 free passes, making his WHIP is 1.04.

Drop them like their hot!

I am dropping Tampa’s Yandy Diaz 1B/3B, yes I know last season Diaz hit over 300 and 20+HR and he had 173 hits, this isn’t last year and he just seems lost up there (or maybe hasn’t found his stride yet). Diaz on the season this year is hitting .227, with 1 HR, 13 RBI and just not getting on base at all while holding a brutal .570 OPS. Drop candidate if I’ve seen one.

Phillies SP Cristopher Sanchez – SP I am dropping Mr. Sanchez here based off his last two starts, yes I know he could pick it back up but I love winning. 😉 Sanchez hasn’t compiled more than 8 innings in between two starts and even worse isn’t striking nearly enough batters out to be considered starter worthy. He only has 4 strikeouts over 2 starts and has a 5.63 ERA and a dreadful 2.00 WHIP. Hit the showers dirty Sanchez.

stash the cash

These 2 “stash candidates” are also from the minors, I know a gamble. A gamble for 1 I know will pay off and big. Tampa’s 3B prospect Junior Caminero, Caminero is hitting and ready, actually chomping at the bits. Junior is 22 for 68 he is hitting .324, 6 HR, 16 RBI with 6 walks giving him a 1.040 OPS. Tampa Bay needs Caminero and so do you.

Last stash candidate we might see first is from the Cardinals seeing they are without pitcher Steven Matz who is inconsistent and that’s being nice, he’s also injured. If a spot start or two is all we see from Cardinals’ Sem Robberse that’s ok, but I think he’s ready and pretty darn good too. Robberse, who mentioned in a different article, is a keeper, Robberse is 4-0 right now for the Memphis Redbirds, in 6 starts he is a K/IP guy, he has 35 K in 35.2 IP with an incredible 1.77 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP. This kid is good, its time to pounce on Robberse.
