Brooklyn, NY. —Ryan Garcia dominates Devin Haney in a decisive decision.
Earlier in the week, Haney was initially favored heavily at -900 odds, but by the time the fight took place, the odds had shifted to -575 according to MGM. Reports from sources revealed that Garcia staged a mock act of drinking a beer at the weigh-in and paid Haney over $600,000 as part of a deal to ensure the fight proceeded.
The day before the fight, Garcia made a bet with Haney, agreeing to pay him $500,000 for every pound he weighed above 140. Haney confirmed that Garcia honored the bet, resulting in Garcia paying a total of $1.5 million to Haney.
Despite doubts about Garcia’s fitness leading up to the bout, he proved his critics wrong on fight night. Considered a significant underdog, Garcia’s powerful left hook led to three knockdowns, ultimately securing him a majority decision victory over Haney at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Fight Night

One judge scored the fight a draw at 112-112, scores of 114-110 and 115-109 in favor of Garcia. However, due to Garcia weighing in at 143.2 pounds for the 140-pound contest, he was ineligible to win Haney’s WBC junior welterweight title, resulting in the title becoming vacant.

How it went
In the initial minute of Saturday night’s bout, Garcia set the tone by landing a powerful left hook that staggered Haney, hinting at the intense showdown ahead.
Despite Haney’s quick recovery, Garcia’s strategic counterattacks and resilience kept the match dynamic.
Although Garcia knocked Haney down in Round 7, his subsequent point deduction erased any potential lead.

Nonetheless, Garcia continued to dominate, flooring Haney again in Round 10 with a thunderous right hand, followed by a decisive left hook in the next round.
Haney’s managed to withstand Garcia’s onslaught, the fight concluded as one of the most remarkable and gripping spectacles in recent memory.
