I find it hard to believe the Yankees will not, for whatever reason, sign the reigning NL Cy Young award winner Blake Snell to a deal. Especially in lieu of the recent Gerrit Cole injury, it’s not like they can’t “afford” it.

Blake Snell has a 4 pitch repertoire to rely on and has experience in the AL East as he once pitched for the Tampa Rays. Snell’s mix includes a four seamer which he throws (48.6%) of the time a curve-ball (19.8%), change-up (18.4%) and slider (13.1%). At 31 years old he is still in good health and possibly the prime of his career. Why do they not sign him is beyond me, I wish I had the answers.

Then there is free agent pitcher and former Yankee left-hander Jordan Montgomery. He just came off a 10-11 season with two different franchises, the St. Louis Cardinals and the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers. Another mind boggling question why not sign “Monty”? Jordan is familiar with the Yanks and would bring some winning attitude with him.

Logic would tell the average fan that either of these two athletes would be a welcome addition to a team that wants to win a World Series championship which has been eluding them for well over a decade now. Are the Yankees gonna stand pat and rely on in-house options Clark Schmidt, Clayton Beeter, Luke Weaver or gamble on Yoendrys Gómez, Will Warren or Luis Gil? All viable options I guess; but would this rotation be a World Series bound team? A lot of unanswered questions remain.

Which option should the Yankees go with? Sign Snell? Sign Montgomery? Ride with what they have? Or is there possibly another option? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
