Hello wrestling fans! I, like a lot of you have been watching WWE since it was WWF and although the landscape has drastically  changed one thing has remained the same.

Everyone wants gold!

There are some feuds that start because of gold, and some feuds that are so good, they don’t need to involve a belt to the victor. Very seldom, has one person held both heavyweight titles or both tag team titles for long stretches of time. That is until recently. Quite frankly, I don’t understand why WWE started this recent trend and I really don’t understand why it has continued.

The Bloodline, Sami Zayne and Kevin Owens, and now The Judgement Day have held both titles and they get to defend the titles on both Raw and Smackdown.

But why? Raw currently has 7 tag teams (8 if you count the Viking Raiders) and Smackdown has 9 different and talented tag teams. My point is there are enough teams on each show to have good feuds for their respective tag team titles on each show. Why have 17 teams fighting for one set of tag titles?

It is time to split the tag titles and go back to the way it used to be, one for Raw and one for Smackdown.

Here is My Plan

Wrestlemania 40 is the best place to make this happen, since there are two shows now. Damien Priest and Finn Balor could pull double duty and defend the Raw titles one night and the Smackdown titles the other night.

When you look at the Smackdown tag team title landscape, most teams are already involved in other programs. AOP is with Karrion Cross and Final Testament. The same with the Street Profits and Bobby Lashley together in The Pride.

The LWO are in a program with Legado del Fantasma. The Bloodline is going to be doing their own thing, Judgement Day will be defending the titles and Austin Theory and Grayson Waller should be wrestling each other.

This leaves Pretty Deadly and the New Catch Republic (Pete Dunn and Tyler Bate). Plus, since both of them are on the Smackdown roster you could include the new team of Cedric Alexander and Ashante Thee Adonis (possibly called Rags to Riches). They could take the pin in either a triple threat match for the #1 contender match or a fatal four way match. This leaves the other 2 or 3 teams to look strong. I would give the titles to New Catch Republic on Smackdown.

The Raw tag teams are doing very little. You have Alpha Academy, The Creed Brothers, DIY, Imperium, Indus Sher, Judgement Day, and the New Day. Taking the Judgement Day out you could have three matches (one per week) and then a triple threat match to crown the #1 contender. Then have that team wrestle Judgement Day for the titles.

I would also keep R-Truth involved in this each week saying he is going to find a tag team partner (I will reveal who that will be in another article). I would probably do Imperium or DIY in a match against Judgement Day, and would have Judgement retain.

The WWE needs to split the tag titles up and give one to each show. That is how I would do it. Do you agree? If you don’t, how would you do it? Feel free to tell me in the comment section below.
