NBA: Happy Sixth Birthday to Tyrese Haliburton

Not too often do you get a professional athlete to be such a dominant force at such a young age! On Thursday, February 29th, Tyrese Haliburton, of the Indiana Pacers, celebrated his sixth birthday!

Technically speaking…Since February 29th is considered Leap Day, and only happens every four years. In reality Haliburton is 24 years old.

Haliburton was interviewed by Sports Illustrated and was asked several questions regarding having a birthday on Leap Day.

Haliburton had the following to say about turning six on Thursday:

“It’s pretty cool. We don’t play on the day which is unfortunate. I wish we played on the day. It’s exciting, exciting to have a real birthday. Six!

The Pacers didn’t get the opportunity to play on Haliburton’s special day but will be back in action March 1 against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Haliburton had the following to say about being born on Leap Day as well:

“In school, that was always my ‘give a fun fact about yourself.” He is the fourth person born on February 29 of any year to play in the NBA, joining John Chaney (1920), Chucky Brown (1968), and Vonteego Cummings (1976).

The Indiana Pacers guard hasn’t had the chance to play on his actual birthday throughout his career. In 2020, while with Iowa State he was injured but his team played against Oklahoma State.

Maybe there will be better luck in 2028 for Haliburton to finally play on his birthday! Time will only tell!

Happy Birthday once again Tyrese Haliburton, hope you had an amazing day!
