It’s no secret after another dominant playoff run, that L’Jarius Sneed’s stock is on the rise. To add to that, he is coming off of his rookie contract, and looking to get paid.
Now the obvious answer is that the Kansas City Chiefs take advantage of the increased salary cap, and keep this motley defense together. However, there are a lot question as to The Chiefs have something like 36 pending free agents heading into the 2024 season.
Now obviously every player is not created equal. First order of business for that defense should be, Chris Jones, the best available Defensive Tackle available in free-agency.
With that being said, it’s not clear cut and dry that the Chiefs will be able to retain Sneed, as he will be looking for beaucoup bucks after another shutdown playoff season.
According to rumors from league insiders, The Atlanta Falcons are highly interested in acquiring Sneed. Another team hot on the trail appears to be division rival Denver Broncos, but would Kansas City allow that?
Basically sending a top 10 cornerback, to play side-by-side with #2 CB in the league Patrick Surtain? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! To me this seems like a hard no, but again, at the right price anything can happen. This isn’t just a sport, it’s big business too.
If you follow this stuff on the socials it’s no secret that Sneed posted the picture below with an eagle emoji this past weekend on Instagram.

three of Sneed’s college teammates from Louisiana Tech, who are presently on the Eagles roster, are actively recruiting the cornerback to come to Philadelphia via text messages and other methods. Running back Boston Scott, defensive lineman Milton Williams, and tight end Griffin Herbert all played with Sneed at Louisiana Tech and are pushing their former teammate to sign with the Eagles if he hits the open market.
NFL free agency will officially begin on March 13, 2024, at 4 p.m. ET. Officially Day 1 of the 2024 National Football League year. This is the period where players can officially sign new contracts with other teams.
So we have a couple weeks to see what happens between Sneed and the Chiefs.
