Houston—Over the years, there have been reports indicating financial troubles for former NFL star running back Adrian Peterson, so this is nothing new. Now ,based on online investigations and an earlier report from Dov Kleiman, it seems that the 2012 NFL MVP is hosting an estate sale in Houston, selling memorabilia from his career alongside other personal belongings.

The Adrian Peterson auction , managed by Texmax Auctions LLC, features a variety of items available for bidding.

These include game-worn cleats, autographed jerseys, numerous game balls obtained by Peterson during his time in the league, and a collection of trophies earned by the seven-time Pro Bowler over his career. Among these trophies are Peterson’s Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and MVP awards.

Despite earning over $100 million throughout his career, Peterson struggled to preserve his wealth. In 2019, a Pennsylvania creditor allegedly filed a lawsuit against him for failing to repay a $5.2 million loan.

By 2021, it was determined that Peterson owed the company a sum of $8.3 million. Evidently, the 38-year-old prospective Hall of Famer continues to grapple with significant financial challenges, as highlighted by today’s developments.

“This is yet another situation of an athlete trusting the wrong people and being taken advantage of by those he trusted,” Peterson’s lawyer tweeted on Wednesday.

Despite the worrisome state of Peterson’s finances, there is a glimmer of hope for him. As a guaranteed Hall of Fame inductee, he has avenues to rebuild a stable income, particularly through speaking engagements and endorsement deals. Nonetheless, the resolution of his debts and child support responsibilities remains uncertain.

Peterson’s journey stands as a warning for young athletes, emphasizing the necessity of prudent financial planning. It underscores the importance of making sound investments and steering clear of the traps that may result in financial distress.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
