San Jose—The Vegas Golden Knights (31-17-6), positioned second in the Pacific Division, are facing off against the San Jose Sharks (15-34-5), currently holding the eighth spot in the Pacific Division.

Following Anthony Duclair’s impressive two-goal performance against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Sharks’ 4-3 defeat, the San Jose Sharks are set to host the Vegas Golden Knights.

Vegas boasts a 31-17-6 overall record, with a 10-5-2 record in Pacific Division matchups. The Golden Knights shine with a remarkable 27-3-4 record when they score three goals or more.

San Jose holds a 6-10-2 record within the Pacific Division and stands at 15-34-5 overall. Additionally, the Sharks have a 9-18-3 record in matches where they accumulate more penalty minutes than their opponents.

Today’s matchup marks the fourth encounter between these teams this season. In their previous meeting, the Golden Knights won a 5-4 shootout victory.

Over the last 10 games, the Sharks have recorded a 5-3-2 record, averaging 2.7 goals and 3.9 assists, with 4.1 penalties resulting in 9.1 penalty minutes per game, while conceding an average of 2.4 goals.

On the other hand, the Golden Knights boast a 6-3-1 record, with an average of 3.3 goals and six assists, along with 1.9 penalties leading to 3.8 penalty minutes per game, while allowing 2.7 goals per game.

Everything points to a VGK win, but we all know division matchups can always be a toss up.

Sharks: Henry Thrun (shoulder), Matt Benning (lower body) for the season, Tomas Hertl (lower body), Logan Couture (groin), and Givani Smith (lower body) are all unavailable.

Golden Knights: Jack Eichel (lower-body), Pavel Dorofeyev (upper body), Shea Theodore (upper body), and William Carrier (upper body) are all sidelined.
