Las Vegas—Saturday night, Jonathan Marchessault found the net early for the Golden Knights(31-17-6).

VGK experienced their first home defeat of the season against a Metropolitan Division opponent, following five consecutive victories in such matchups. Adin Hill made 25 saves.

Carolina(32-17-5) completed a sweep in the two-game season series and advanced to a 4-2 record at T-Mobile Arena.
Marchessault’s goal, a rebound shot in the middle of the opening period, granted the Knights an early advantage and extended his scoring streak to three games. Nicolas Roy assisted on the goal, marking his career-best eight-game point streak. His 30 points this season already equal his total from the previous year.
Together with Ivan Barbashev, that line has secured at least one point in 11 consecutive games. Despite several close-range opportunities for the Golden Knights to widen the lead, Martin’s was stellar, he stoned them with 12 saves in the period.
“Spencer Martin was the difference,” Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “He kept us in the first period when we were not very good. I thought they were really good and playing their game.”
Svechnikov rewarded Martin’s impressive performance by capitalizing on a rush from the slot, equalizing the score just 1:21 into the second period.
Seth Jarvis and Stefan Noesen found the net within the initial seven minutes of the third period, securing a 3-1 win for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Vegas Golden Knights.
